If you like beautiful views, good food and just chilling out, then Positano is for you. If you're looking for nightlife it probably isn't. I always stay in the Hotel Poseidon because the staff there are brilliant. I just love the relaxing atmosphere - I always come back from holidays feeling refreshed. Ravello, Capri, Pompei and Ischia can be done as day trips but getting there can require some advance planning... |

Extremely hilly so get your wakling shoes on - if you can get past that it's one of the best places to relax on the Amalfi. |

Positano is very cool small beach side village. Dont go if you have a weak heart, there alot of stairs unless you can afford the 5 star places, haha. very good place to go and chill providing the weather holds, if it rains there is nothing. |

Excellent taste of the Amalfi coast. Great palce to chill out or base yourself as you do day trips to all the amazing places around the Amalfi Coast. Plus the 100s of stairs burns off the amazing food ou will eat there!!! |

Absolutely beautiful. |

There is not a lot to do in the city but sit at the beach. The prices for food are a bit expensive for the average backpacker, but it is possible to do without too much expense. |

Positano is the perfect city for chilling out and just wandering and exploring... and relaxing on the beach. i didnt go shopping. i woudnt want to waste my time with that, when i was in such a beautiful setting.
Restaurants aren't the cheapest, but if you look you can easily find some reasonably priced take out pizza. Also, lots of small grocery stores... with excellent fruit, and really good prices. Its also extremely easy to get to other sites/cities from here: eg. pompei, capri... |

What an awesome spot on this perfect coastline. Idyllic in just about every way (except for the prices...). |

I wish I could have stayed a while longer. Even though there were no lockers, come here! The beds are really squished into the rooms and there is not much, if any, room for your gear (gave it more charm). COME TO POSITANO! STAY AT THIS HOSTEL. I will be back. |

Cute town, nice people, nice beaches , good transportation to other locations and there so all the steps don't need to be a problem. a little pricey but all those areas have to work it from the tourists those few summer months and they do have fireworks on their celebrations that must be expensive to put on and are beautiful! |

Did a great climb on track Alto Via...was actually trying to do Walk of the Gods, but lost the trail. Got to highest point and was all on my own with fabulous views. Got a bit lost though coming down. If you like hiking and exploring, do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Positano is an incredibly beautiful place. If you want to lie on the beach and chill out or walk on the mountains in scenic views, this is the place for you. The place is very touristed, so the shops and restaurants are expensive. Most of the visitors are over 50, so it´s not exactly a party town. ;) Still my suggestion is: leave Sorrento, Ischia and Capri out of your schedule, and take Positano instead! |

I\'m suprised to see several negative comments about this hostel. I went to Positano for my oldest son\'s wedding last April and I stayed at this hostel. It was the highlight of my entire adventure in Italy. Although I originally booked a womens Dorm room, I \"upgraded\" to a private bedroom and bathroom for about $20.00 extra/night and it was GREAT! The room was extremely clean and cozy, with no smells of any kind. Our private balcony was to die for! All of the people I met were wonderful and very pleased with everything. The owner, Christiana was just wonderful. She was cheerful, incredibly helpful and really went the extra mile to make my stay fabulous. The meals were inexpensive and light. Great coffee in the morning. After several days, we then went to Rome where we\'d booked a private apartment, but in my opinion, the experience I had at this hostel far outweighed the apartment. Overall, it was the trip of a lifetime, thanks to Christiana and this lovely hostel. |
