If you're looking for nightlife it probably isn't. I always stay in the Hotel Poseidon because the staff there are brilliant. I just love the relaxing atmosphere - I always come back from holidays feeling refreshed. Ravello, Capri, Pompei and Ischia can be done as day trips but getting there can require some advance planning...close

I went to Positano for my oldest son\'s wedding last April and I stayed at this hostel. It was the highlight of my entire adventure in Italy. Although I originally booked a womens Dorm room, I \"upgraded\" to a private bedroom and bathroom for about $20.00 extra/night and it was GREAT! The room was extremely clean and cozy, with no smells of any kind. Our private balcony was to die for! All of the people I met were wonderful and very pleased with everything. The owner, Christiana was just wonderful. She was cheerful, incredibly helpful and really went the extra mile to make my stay fabulous. The meals were inexpensive and light. Great coffee in the morning. After several days, we then went to Rome where we\'d booked a private apartment, but in my opinion, the experience I had at this hostel far outweighed the apartment. Overall, it was the trip of a lifetime, thanks to Christiana and this lovely hostel. close

If you want to lie on the beach and chill out or walk on the mountains in scenic views, this is the place for you. The place is very touristed, so the shops and restaurants are expensive. Most of the visitors are over 50, so it´s not exactly a party town. ;) Still my suggestion is: leave Sorrento, Ischia and Capri out of your schedule, and take Positano instead!close

Restaurants aren't the cheapest, but if you look you can easily find some reasonably priced take out pizza. Also, lots of small grocery stores... with excellent fruit, and really good prices. Its also extremely easy to get to other sites/cities from here: eg. pompei, capri...close

The recently remodeled Hotel Conca d'Oro is situated in the loveliest spot where you can appreciate the uniquely beautiful panoramic views of Positano. Far from the noise of the road, you can enjoy peace and quiet, interrupted only by the songs of the birds. Its position and spectacular views can make you're an unforgettable one. Its structure with large terraces keeps all the characteristics of the place,...

Phenomenal! There really wasn't any place to put your things (lockers, etc) so security was poor however it was HEAVEN, and people dont steal in heaven. We left our things on our bunks and took off and it was fine. The hostel is BEAUTIFUL beyond words, the staff is soooo great! I can't say...

extremely expensive for what you get which is very little. they charge you for everything from high internet prices to an extra 50 cents for milk in your tea! they get away with charging so much due to being the only hostel in positano. 2 dogs which are very loud and allowed in the bedrooms....

Top Rated Positano Restaurants

  1. Il Palazzo100%

Il Palazzo is both a hotel and a restaurant but never having stayed in the hotel I cannot review it other than to say that it is quite low down in the town so it doesn't enjoy the wonderful views over Positano that hotels higher up the hillsides have. What it does have, however, is an excellent restaurant. The service is professional and efficient, you can eat...

  2. Donna Rosa Restaurant100%

If it's good enough for Jamie Oliver then it's good enough for me! Seriously though, Donna Rosa's is an excellent family-run Italian restaurant just outside Positano in a little village called Monte Pertuso. Excellent home-made pasta and sea food, wonderful local wines, cooking in an open plan kitchen right beside where you eat, the whole experience is...
