This hostel is in THE best location for the beach, and the staff were lovely but it was more of a family caravan park. Although they did have a free BBQ there just wasn't much going on in the evenings or any idea what to do. If you're with people this would be great but don't go here to meet people!

Ok so pretty quiet place, but Port Macquarie is generally quiet!! great location - I could not get enough of the veiws! The backpacker kitchen is disgusting...I refused to cook in there - not even good enough to make a cuppa!! I will be back.

We were staying during Winter time when it was very cold night with the temperature around 5 degrees. Unfortunatelly there was no heating system at the place. Moreover the blankets we received might be sufficiant during summer but were toatally insufficiant during that night. Therefore we could...

This place is in an excellent location, with helpful staff and a big swimming pool. The only downers were no free barbeque as it is their low season and it's also really really cold in the dorm rooms - I think more blankets/duvets or an electric heater are needed in the middle of winter. The...

We have to say a special thanks to Gaye! The facilities were great especially the pool, the backpackers kitchen could have done with more cutlery and less cockroaches though! A perfect way to chill out after doing sydney though making us leave the tv room by tenpm every evening to go to bed was...

I really liked this place. The dorms are right beside the pool and there's a really relaxed atmosphere around the place.

We'd informed them that our bus got in at 415am and they were fine with it but when we eventually got through to the security guard (after 6 phone calls) he was so rude to us and completely out of order. He kept going on about how late it was and was being really aggressive. We then had to wander around the park for about 30 mins to find our cabin as he sent us in the wrong direction. The park is not geared for backpackers. The kitchen closed at 9pm which is way too early. There were also no sharp knives in the kitchen which we think is because of the number of children. If you want screaming kids this is the place to come. Not relaxing at all. it was not made clear that the toilets were outside either. Very disappointed with this. To top it all off we were told we'd get a lift to the bus station for our 130pm bus only to be told at 110pm that they couldnt take it so we had to run with our backpacks on to make it. Utterly ridiculous. Very poor service. Will not be recommending this hostel to anyone.close

Wonderful place to get away from it all for a week. If you want peace and quiet and dolphins on your doorstep come here, if not go to a hostel!

Worth it for its location, but not really a backpacker place. Difficult to meet people, few common areas. Crowded with little kids yelling in the pool right in front of your room since 8am. Bathroom is miles away and always a bit nasty. Not too bad, but not suitable for backpackers traveling alone.

The place was pretty good. The only disappointment was that the website mentioned a free BBQ on Sunday nights, but they did not have one.

The backpackers quarter has a bit of a noise problem but otherwise a great place to spend a few nights. The camping site is much better than the backpacker huts.

This is very much a family tourist park. My cousin and I felt a little out of place with all the children around. However it was in a good location in Port Macquarie and was a good price for what it was. However the staff weren't very helpful.

Only comment is that there is a strict curfew of 10pm so no noise after this as most backpackers are in cabins and have a balacony to sit on it seems harsh. Also they only have one small fridge for food not suitable when full ie with 60 backpackers plus.

The other problem I could see was that there were so many complaints being made at the front office that there must be some real problem with the Hostel. Having said that it was relaxing and if your up in the morning then you have a chance of getting into the pool without screaming children.close

I'm guessing this is a 'little used' place by backpackers, excellant location right onto the beach, security lockers in the rooms, the rooms are clean as is the kitchen and bathrooms. I was heading to the YHA, but having met the very rude guy from there, I went here and wasn't disappointed.

The security guards think they can abuse their right to power over residents. The backpackers kitchen is also quite limited and the bathroom block is far from the backpackers rooms.
