Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria and is located on the banks of the Maritsa River. The old Plovdiv is an amazing historical place to stroll through. There are numerous ancient monuments left there by the Romans, and the Antique Theatre is one of the most famous monuments in all of Bulgaria. The Roman stadium and forum are two other famous attractions. As this city is an architectural and historical goldmine, there are plenty of museums to get lost in. After such a long historical journey, you'll be in need of a good feed and Plovdiv has a number of restaurants to cater for a variety of tastes.
