It’s in the state of Quintana Roo. The area of the Yucatan Peninsula stretching from Cancun to Tulum is known as “Riviera Maya” and its landscapes, scents, vegetation are amazing. I really liked the big fruit plates (top, superb quality) that you can get for breakfast in the many open air bars.close

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this town but do not think you are visiting an authentically Mexican place. I constantly had to remind myself that I wasn't in Disneyland. Everything is catered to tourists so everything is extremely expensive. The one major reason to come back to Playe del Carmen is the beach...it's so unbelieveably crystal clear and gorgeous. I have never had so much fun at a beach in my life.close

Pretty average for a hostel. Rooms are apartment sized and have kitchenettes which is great for longer stays. However, kitchen supplies are as varied and random as imaginable (think potatoe masher but only 1 glass). Fantastic location, catchy name.

  2. Hotel Playa Del Karma 81%

At first we thought the staff seemed very professional and nice, but something went wrong with the booking, we are not sure what, but when we vere checking out the staff (we think the owner) told us that we had to pay for an extra day because the bill didn't add up and bla bla bla. So we had to...

  3. Magic Express 78%

It is not close to the town, but there is a free shuttle which will take you to town centre between 7-12 and 4-7. A taxi costs between 30 to 50 pesos to the hotel. It is spotlessly clean. The breakfast is excellent. It is a welcome break from travelling and costs only slightly more than the...

Very smart, clean hotel with excellent staff and very good security. They also have a good and free transportation to their beach club and downtown, which is also available for transfers from the hotel to the bus station. Breakfast was good with a range of fruit, juices, coffee, toast and...

Good sized rooms, nice open airy communal area. Great location on the beach and good value for money. Cons: You need great earplugs as the Kareoke and Clubs kick in at 3am and go to about 5am at full volume!!

Not a lot of hostels have a location this close to the beach, and the rooms are really good for the price.

Very poor hostel, the room had a very poor lock and there were no safety deposit boxes provided. We asked a member of staff if we could put our valuables in thier safe and he said he would take care of it. It was never put in the safe but just left in the office. The room was dirty, only one...

Top Rated Playa del Carmen Attractions

  1. Quinta Avenida80%

The Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue) is Playa del Carmen’s main street. It’s a pedestrian area dotted with open air restaurants, bars, hotels, posadas and shops. The beach is just a short walk away. At the end of this street, you will find the pier from where ferries to the island of Cozumel depart. The island is a typical destination for coral reefs and...
