Need to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city, then Pitlochry is the place to stay. Only two hours North of Edinburgh, it is situated in the hub of Highlands Perthshire. It is ideally located to explore the surrounding area with its variety of stunning landscapes and range of activities and places of interest. Pitlochry Backpackers is an old Victorian hotel, bursting with character. We offer a range of rooms - dormitory (4-8 beds), twins and double rooms. It's such a relaxing place to stay and unwind, with its big cosy lounge containing a pool table and comfy sofas. You might only think you're staying one night but you'll end up staying three or four - it's that kind of place. Best of all it's literally a stroll away from the beautiful highland country-side - in just 5 minutes you can be at a tranquil loch-side with views through the trees to the hills above this gorgeous highland town. There are many wonderful walks to take; to waterfalls, along rivers, through ancient forests, or up Ben Vrackie (2760 feet, the hill above the town) - these walks all start from the hostel door! The area is also dotted with distilleries, castles and ancient standing stones all within easy reach. Perthshire is also a big centre for adventure activities, including white-water rafting, canoeing etc if you're up for it - or hire a bike at reception and get exploring - there's some fantastic trails. The Pitlochry staff are always friendly and willing to help, we can help you book your tours or recommend places to visit to ensure you enjoy your stay. We offer…. This place was great! Tons of bright colors on the walls, close to everything in town, and the staff was great!

The man who checked me in was really friendly. And Australian. Fun. The breakfast cereal was gross though.

The kitchen was really messy unless you were fortunate enough to be there as the staff were cleaning - however their two colored sponge system does not work which makes you wonder what you are actually eating off your plate! The rooms were clean though!

Beautiful city. Very cool, young hostel manager, but perhaps at expense of cleanliness/security, but it is a small town so probably little to worry about. Hostel on the main drag and a very nice town to visit.

Well-run hostel. Well-organised with good location and friendly staff. Aimed at young people. Has a bit of a fun factor (there is a pool table).

Cheery and homely. Excellent location for beautiful countryside. Welcoming and helpful staff. Neat and clean and safe premises. (perhaps a snib on our door to be mended?). Room 15. Three of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you all.
