It is an ideal setting for relaxing and excursions. The house is situated just 13km from the sea, 30 minutes from Volterra, 45 minutes from San Gimignano, and an hour and a half from Florence and Siena. This was the most beautiful little place! The people were amazing and they cooked breakfast and dinner (at a price) but a lovely cultural experience. You need a car to get here as its off track by a long way. But if you would like to see a different view of italy then this is your place!

If you dont have a vehicle they charge 20 euros each way if for pick up at Cecina station, a PER PERSON fee. My advice... pay the 50 something euro charge to stay in pisa instead. cheaper and less hassle.close

They do not provide this service, nothing could be further from the truth. This hostel is not in Pisa or even close to Pisa. Its closer to a larger town Livorno. Even if you take the 40 minute train to the closest town on the line to the village this hostel is in, no taxi will take you to the hostel. The staff was unfriendly and unwilling to help us in our time sensitive situation. I was extreamely displeased.close

The room was decent with spectacular views but the cost for meals and transportation to and from the home was ridiculous.

I was not able to be picked up because they have to dirve a fair distance over a terrible road that is not good on their 1962 beat up mercedes benz. Second I really think that most people go to Firenze for the scenery, but for the town and the "touristy" things that are in the area, so if you want to go and see those things, you must pay them to take you to the station, and that costs alot of money. It also costs alot of money for dinner, no matter what they cook it is 20 euro, even if it not worth that (as the case was when I went there) I would actually only go there if you either want to have some time in thmountains by yourself, or if you are on a romantic get away (then which it is ok to spend alot of money) I also had to pay for two days even though I was at the train station. They were to busy picking sombody else, and didn't want to go out of their way to pick me up as well, so I had to end up spending a night of my vacation in a train station with homeless people. I liked the scenery, but that was about it.close

This hostel is absolutely nowhere near Pisa, it is a 40 minute train ride and then a 30 minute drive from Pisa. The only food available is from them and is at and extremely high cost. If you want to spend a night in the middle of nowhere at an extremely high cost then this is the place for you!

You cannot walk to anything and are completely dependent on the owners to drive you an hour to civilization. The place was absolutely gorgeous but if you are short on time, this is not the place to be. It is impossible to get a taxi here or walk, even if you have your own car, it would take forever to get there and you'll probably get lost. It is actually in another town rather than in Pisa. Quite far away on the hill top although it does give you a magnificent view. Don't suggest to go there unless you spent several days and more important thing is you must have a car! Picking up by the hostel is rather Expensive and time consuming!

If you decide to stay there, know that you must go to the Cecina train station and be picked up for a fee of 10 euro (each way). This is not a easily accessible hostel!! That said, the building is beautiful and set in the middle of the Tuscan hillside far away from everything. If you are going, make sure to bring your own food, because the "restaurant" is merely the cooking of the owner, at 20 euro a pop. Bring a bunch of friends and a cooler of food and beer and make a huge bonfire and enjoy the starlight. Otherwise, dont bother.close

This is a perfect place if you just want to get away. David was awesome, and everyone seemed to have a great time. I would definitely make it a point to come back the next time I am in Italy.

I would never go there again and I would like some kind of compensation because that was a horrible experience. Plus the owner doesn't understand the deposit I put down with my credit card and I had to play an extra 5 Euros.close

As far as i could see on the site it never really said just how far away from Pisa (the town) it is brilliant for a relaxed weekend but not really what a backpacker wants. it.s also unexceptible to charge ppl 20 euro for dinner.

The bed was realy uncomfortable. The dogs went into the room and ate my food! It is not a hostel for backpackers, because there is no bus to or from a train station. You need a car to get there. I do not like this kind of hostel.close

This hostel is very out of the way and difficult to get in and out of but the people are very friendly and very helpful and the dinner was lovely and inexpensive. Highly recommend a stay here for thow wanting a rest rather than a party and wanting to experience the Italian country lifestyle.
