The hostel building is quite interesting and nice, the room was very clean and the breakfast was very good (including fruits, egg, ...). But there is no common kitchen facility and we had to wait for 1 hour in the hostal lobby for the staff to be able to check in. The reception service could be...

The price for this hostel is very high. We did not have a window and there were loads of mosquito's, that luckily did not bite. We were glad we only stayed one night in this unpleasant village close to the beautiful spot of Machu Picchu!

An excellent choice when staying in Aguas Calientes. Our room was huge and very comfortable. The only negative is if you're staying during the weekend the bars nearby are very loud until around 2.

The best kind of place for a tourist trap like Aguas Calientes. It's beautiful and serene, with wooden walkways and stairs everywhere, and tropical jungle always knocking at your door. The only problem we had was with getting hot water, it came out mildly warm.

Delightful hotel just off the town square and great staff - made us very welcome and even met them climbing up Machu Picchu. Hot water and heating - everything you need!

Power went out while we were there, more lighting of some sort on stairways and in rooms would have been helpful.

Good location - close to the bus station and the main plaza. Nice, clean room. It is a bit expensive but given the nature of Machu Picchu its worth it.

jacuzzi and pool out of action but that did not bother us. Construction work in main square in front of hotel but not too noisy as little machinery being used. However, detracts from view from front rooms.

Our stay at Gringo Bill's was fine. The power went out in the city as soon as we arrived and the staff handled this well. They provided candles and assisted us with finding a nearby restaurant that was up and running. We unfortunately weren't able to take hot showers.

Hot water is hit or miss, It literally shut off in the middle of my shower when I was covered in soap. They also tried to charge me double when I arrived, and I had to prove otherwise before they would accept the right amount. For one night, it was do-able, just don't expect everything to go smooth. I booked online and when I arrived the receptionist told me they did not have any room for me at the rate I had booked. Instead she took me next door to a hotel and got me the same rate. If you are going to book here go to the office in Cusco to confirm your reservation.

There was a problem with mold in the room The gas heater wasn't vented and there wasn't any hot water in the shower. It was dangerous not to have any patio lighting on the dangerously steep rock-stairs.

Not a hostel, a hotel. But freaking great. Very expensive, but I'm assuming because of it's location. Best place I stayed at while in Peru. Definitely paid for it though. 40 USD a person!! Worth it though after staying in some real dive hostels.

BEAUTIFUL place to stay - don't let them cheat you on your booking price, though. I booked two $20 beds in a 3-bed dorm room but apparently received a much better room and was expected to pay the extra. Luckily I had my Hostelworld.com confirmation printed out!

We were a little wary because of some descriptions we found saying it was sometimes loud and also linking it to hardcore bacpackers which to us was brought an image of a dirty youth hostel in south London. Really this Hostal is excellent. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. The Restaurant was one of the better we ate at in Aguas Calientes. And, they had regular music with dinner, not every day probably due to the low season, but every other day. And the price was excellent.close

Although the place had a very nice feel to it, we got the impression that it desperately needed some maintenance. Our bathroom was mouldy due to poor ventilation, and there was some lack of attention to the cleanliness of the common area. OK for one night.

Pretty cool place. Our double room was clean and quiet, plenty of hot water, really friendly staff, and the restaurant serves really good dinners. Even though it costs a bit much, it's worth it. The ease of using pay-pal instead of their office in Cuzco is really convenient too.

The hostel is in a great location, the rooms are large and have plenty of hot water. The drawbacks are that the rooms are very damp (sheets are wet when you are sleeping, and if you wash clothes they will never dry) and the staff did not speak english which made things difficult at times.
