The zipper pull was cut so the lock didnt show damage and a purse containing left over Argentinian and Chilean currency was stolen. I`m yet to hear back from the owner of the hostel but they had a thief in the hostal on that day who was very devious and I wouldn`t recommend leaving your things with them whilst you go trekking nor whilst you are waiting for a night bus.close

We had an excellent stay here, love the views from the roof top terrace. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend to our friends. Zarela is a great source of information for treks, climbs and local knowledge.

I arrived during low season so for most of my stay it was just me, which meant I didnt get to appreciate the hostel as its best. However, I would recommend it as a place to stay and I think during the busy periods it is a really fun hostel.

The atmosphere was awsome! It was unique and cozy and the food! the best I've had in peru, there was actually vegetarian options AND broccoli. Not to mention REAL coffee, not instant.

We were there in low season - only one other person in the hostel. Staff were very helpful. Room was large and very clean. Great breakfasts! Would definitely stay there again.

if you do not spending a little extra, this is the place for you. I mean in soles, so it is still cheap. Can not say enough about Zarela, and the climbing/ trekking info is over abundant. try the burrito - muy excellente!
