How good feeling to get into the nature breathing the clear and cool air! People were looking at me curiously as I went through the village to the lodge. It was a lodge in a small village in the great nature. That's what I wanted. Being free from the noisy town, there was the andean life surrounded by the beautiful snow-white mountains. The owner of the lodge was a great Peruvian guy. He spoke Spanish and English. He gave me a great welcome, showing inside the lodge. My room was very clean with hot comfortable shower and the most comfortable bed in Peru. I could see the beautiful mountains from the big window in my room. The roof was excellent! I had a breakfast on the roof viewing the mountains, feeling the warm sun. I walked through the village during the day. Everything around me caught my eyes. Looking up the high trees, watching the horses, pigs, donkees, chickens and some birds swimimg in the stream, I could see the quiet andean life. I had some beer and wine with the owner at night. It was a unforgetable experience. I'm sure to get there again someday.close

I stayed here recently with some friends and had such a good time that I wanted to recommend it to others. It´s a new place set in a small village outside Peru called Yanama. It´s off the beaten track but is great for anyone who wants to see an untouristed Andean village. We were the only tourists there! The village is very traditional so you hear lots of the locals speaking Quechua and most of the ladies wear the traditional dress. Another plus is that to get there you go through the Huascaran National Park so get to see the Llanganuco Lakes on the way plus all the mountains in the park. The lodge is managed by a young Peruvian guy who is really friendly and knowledgeable about the area as he grew up in the village where the lodge is located. We did some walking around the lodge and the countryside there is beautiful - we went to some nearby lakes and ruins. It´s close to the Huascaran National Park for trekking there but we didn´t have time although we plan to go back. The hostel is really good quality and the food (included in the price) is all home-cooked and very good. It has great beds with duvets and 24hr hot water that is really hot, not just tepid! Definitely worth a visit if you want to see a real Andean village that the tourists haven´t discovered yet!close
