Although in the country, we are only 40 minutes drive from the beach resort of Canet Plage, within an hour of the Spanish border, under 90 minutes to the ski resorts and 2½ hours from Andorra ie we are an excellent base for exploring the region. Each of our rooms is uniquely decorated with the overall theme taken from the wines of the region and all with views of the vineyards and mountains. We offer you a choice of room only, bed and breakfast (B&B or chambres d'hôtes) or you can have half-board in conjunction with our restaurant. In our restaurant, we offer you a wide range of dishes reflecting the international nature of our clientele. We change the menu daily to reflect the availability of fresh ingredients. Half board options are available from 36€ per person. Our fully licensed restaurant stocks a range of the locally produced wines along with other alcoholic beverages and, of course, soft drinks. The adjacent Mas Camps winery offers tasting and tours can be arranged. Within 30 minutes drive are mountain scenery, Cathar and Templar history through the chateaux of Queribus (where the Cathars made their last stand)and Peyrepertuse, early European history in the Tautavel museum, cycling, walking and rambling, fishing, wine tasting, Perpignan (the Catalan city which Salvador Dali declared to be the 'centre of the universe') and, of course, lovely houses to buy through the local estate agents should you want to stay a bit longer. Taking in the local area, under an hour can take you to the Mediterranean beaches, numerous castles, canal trips, medieval villages such as Villefranche-de-Conflent and Castelnou, mountain railways (the Train Jaune), Roman roads in Narbonne, festivals such as Visa pour L'Image (the international photojournalism festival), kayaking, rafting and Spain. If you're on a motorbike, you can take advantage of our secure parking and enjoy all the twists and turns of the Pyrenees each day. We're an easy ride from the European Cycle Express drop-off point at Perpignan Nord. Within day-trip distance are sections of the Da Vinci Trail (Montsegur, Rennes le Chateau, etc.), Barcelona, the Salvador Dali haunts of Cadaques and Figures, the medieval walled city of Carcassonne, Andorra, ski resorts and numerous other attractions. Finally, for those of you just passing through on your way to or from Spain or Portugal we offer a peaceful break along the way in the heart of the Catalan countryside with its unique mix of French and Spanish cultures just 15 minutes from the A9 motorway exit at Perpignan. If you're flying in or out of Perpignan airport (PGF), we are a convenient place to start or end your holiday with free parking during your stay and an airport shuttle (plus the CHEAPEST CAR HIRE IN PERPIGNAN from our partners www.perpignanflightsandcarhire.com). Children under 12 may stay in their parents' room without an additional accommodation charge within the room limit. The room limit is 4 for the quad room, 3 for the triple and double ensuite rooms and 2 for the non-ensuite rooms. Babies and children count as people too. We regret that we are unable to cater for pets. You can checkin from 2pm to 10pm. Checkout time is from 8am to 11am (earlier checkout can be arranged the night before). Please note that if it appears that you will require a visa to enter France, we will charge the full balance in advance and that this will be non-refundable. This is so that we can assist you in obtaining the visa; if your application is unsuccessful you can apply the amount against any future booking with us. If applicable, we will warn you before we do this.

Although we were quite surprised where our hostel was, we still enjoyed our stay immensely. The owners were really great and made us really feel welcome! I loved the surroundings of the mountains and the area. Although it was far, it was still a wonderful experience.

Our stay at Mas Camp was great. Friendly and accomodating. The only down side was a severe lack of public transport in the area (but the owner did drop us off and offer to pick us up from the local town).

Nicely located, nice house too. Although the bed was too small for 2 persons to sleep in (for sure if you are not gay)

I would actively discourage anyone from staying here. We called for directions but no one picked up the phone (at 8pm). We were charged in full despite explaining all of this. I found them to be brash and unhelpful. A very disappointing experience.

Only possible to get there by car. 20km away from Perpignan. Good to explore Pyrenees from there. People are very friendly. One evening we ordered a meal which which was too expensive! If you eat there, ask for the price ;-)

We are both city kids and a break out in the middle of the wine growing region of the pyrenees was a perfect get away. You will need to hire a car to get the most from the region if you want an action packed holiday, but if you want something cheap, cheerful and very peaceful in the French idyll, this is it. The owners could not do enough for us and our room was nice, airy and comfy even if it was not that large. Our room had a TV/DVD which was great for when we had an early night but you have to ask for the selection of DVDs as they dont keep them in the room - the owners said that some had been stolen in the past so this is understandable. We had about 15 DVDs to choose from and all recent releases. The breakfast is plentiful and the evening meal could have been from a 5 star restaurant, compliments to the owners wife who cooked it for us at short notice. You definitely need a car to be able to visit all the local attractions so don't visit there without one or you will have to walk miles. The local village is closed on Sunday and the bus/taxi service seems to please itself when it works. The area really needs more tourist-friendly services. We enjoyed our stay at mas camps - oh, be sure to buy the wine from the winery next door!close

The hosts were very friendly. If you want to have a nice welcoming and to sleep in a very very soft bed, this is a place to go.

It is NOT in Perpignan. It's 35 km outside of Perpignan, and the taxi driver charged us 80 euros for the ride!! But the hostel is nice - a small wineyard ran by an English family.

Perfect retreat from the city; nice place to hide and write a novel. Very friendly staff which will go above and beyond to serve you. You can buy breakfast and dinner here too, although it is a little expensive. As country lodges go, this is an excellent one.close

Not far from the airport but not so convenient from Perpignan town. You need a car to get there. On the positive side it is surrounded by the valley's villages. Very near Tautavel, a nice village with a museum of the Prehistoric origins of man kind in Europe, very good price and worthwhile visiting. Generally speaking, a very pleasant place, a bit cold since it lacks central heating, very imporant for the cold winter of the Oriental Pyrenees. On the other hand the visitor is provided with several blankets, so that while you are sleeping your feet won't get cold. Generally speaking, a nice place to visit. Prefferably summertime.close

The premises may be only owned for a few years but it does not take much money or time to make things nice. WHY HAVE A DVD PLAYER IN THE ROOM WHEN THERE IS NO MOVIES?

What an incredible setting. In amongst the vineyards of Mas Camps. So secluded so peaceful. Arnaud and his wife are two of the friednliest and welcoming people we had met on our travels. Great advice and help on area around the hotel and good wholesome food. Go there.

We personally loved the stay there! Nice sourroundings, clear connections everywhere. We were able to make the Cathar's Route on one day because of its location. The place is very quiet, clean and the owners were very attentive (more than any 5 stars hotel I've been in).

dont know if would suggest to other backpackers due to location. we did not have the budget to enjoy dinner or breakfast and did not have the means to buy food elsewhere. this place needs a car to see the areas attractions. owners seemed amiable.

It's a a nice hostel in the countryside, but it's far from Perpignan. The beakfast is very good. The cleanliness could be better.
