Malibu Cafe is another of those ever-popular backpacker cafes along Chulia Street with a few rooms upstairs. It's the usual basic arrangement, with simple but clean rooms with shared facilities. The rooms are above the cafe and are of the usual budget standard. They are simple, unadorned but perfectly clean and acceptable for the very reasonable prices. It's a friendly, easy-going place which sees lots of comings and goings and the cafe in particular is a sociable place which is always full of travelers. Malibu is an excellent place to chill out with good music & live sports on big screen TV. Roughly in the middle of the scruffy and bustling backpacker strip of Chulia Street, Malibu Cafe is essentially a Western-style cafe serving up good breakfast & other simple meals. It also has a few computers for Internet access. Within a 5-minutes walk away from the cafe, there are other choices of food courts serving popular Penang street food. If you are looking for entertainment bars, cafes and discotheques it's within 10 mins walk at the happening Penang Road & Upper Penang Road. China Town, Little India, KOMTAR shopping complex and Prangin Mall are also within walking distance for shopping. IMPORTANT: Cafe & Hostel reception opens daily from 9 AM to 10 PM CHECK-IN TIME: 2.00 PM and CHECK-OUT TIME: 12 NOON NOTE: Late or early Arrivals outside reception opening hours will be entertained subject to rooms availability, please email us 1 day in advance. *** All payments by cash only.***

Our first room was very hot and stuffy, but we upgraded to an airconditioned room for an extra RM10 after two nights. Clean rooms, clean basic facilities. I would return again.

Malibu cafe is situated at the main street. The traffic there is causing loud noise during the nights. Sleep is very difficult in the front room.

This hotel seems par for the course for the area. The price is excellent and the staff were friendly.

may not be a nice place to stay at 1st glance. quite a noisy surrounding but very happening location. easy to obtain public transport in the early morning. need some refurbishment. environment is moderate

Its cheap but there is no atmosphere the cafe was never open and theres no chance to meet people. If I was ever in Penang again I would stay somewhere else.

very good location, very basic rooms but has a cafe which is convenient, staff sometimes helpful sometimes not as they can just sit around watching tv. internet cheaper next door! The elderly chap who sometimes serves is really pleasent although doesn't speak much english.

Very clean rooms and bathrooms. Very clean for what you pay. But based on what you pay, nothing extra - just a clean bed. Rooms at front are noisy due to street noise. Wifi was very good and fast.

Good location and very helpful and friendly staff. Some scary holes in the floorboards just covered by lino, and quite noisy out front at night. But all in all a good choice for the price.

The only problem is our room was hot as hell. I believe its the ceiling, its too low and the owner needs to do something bout it. Other than that, the place is excellent!!

It was, I guess, okay, but for this same price you could get much better at like ten other places on Chulia Street.

This place is excellent value for money! We saw only five rooms and there was two shared toilets and showers for the rooms. Both were very clean but public areas were a bit messy. We did not hear any noise from the street. Room with fan was quite hot because we did not have any windows. Wireless Internet is very fast! The staff was quite passive. They should cheer up, clean up the extra stuff from the hallway and this place could be even better!close
