It's a nice hostel - the best one in town. ;-) Breakfast is good and everything else too. It's fine to stay for a night, but also for a whole week. Very nice!

Good place to stay, more like a hotel rather than a hostel. Dont expect to meet any other travellers. Would probably next time go somewhere more fun

Not really a hostel - more a budget hotel but excellent value for its location and what they provide (breakfast). Close to KOMTAR and local bus stops. Would stop there again.

Too loud in Room 105. I can hear guests talking in the TV/Breakfast terrace. Its a nice place to stay, but I suggest you take the upstairs rooms, unless you are willing to invest another MYR15 on ear plugs, which I did.

Penanog is a very beautiful Island. The climate is good. You get both sunny & showers alternatively in day time. Hutton lodge is very nearer to KOMTAR Junction. Maz and Jeremy are fantastic- friendly and helpful. Building was undergoing some renovations but it did not affect my stay at all. In Penang Georgetown currently, Hutton Lodge sets the standard; look no further.

very friendly and hospitable staff. very accesible to touristy areas. should build up the character with some artifacts suiting the "old mansion". A good TV with a working remote and comfortable loung chairs/sofa to sit and relax should be good

Would recommend this place to anyone going to Penang. Very clean, affordable, nice location and the staff were EXTREMELY helpful and friendly. If you do stay at this place and you need help with a Visa for Thailand, hiring scooters, organising scooters etc.....ask for Steve. I would recommend that you stay in Hutton Lodge, however, i would strongly urge you not to book your transit into thailand through them - especially if your destination is one of the islands. Our journey to Koh Pha Ngan lasted 18hrs in a minibus and involved our luggage falling out on the motorway and being ripped off massively once we got to Surat Thani for our boat ticket. The boat ticket was supposedly included in our ticket.close

lovely people and clean rooms with clean bathroom, not in the best location, area looks very downtrodden, nice breakfast-tea and toast, but room never got cleaned even though we asked

The staff were very helpful I booked a dorm room to share with 5 other people but i was upgraded for the 3 days i stayed there to share with 1 other person in a 2 person room. Thanks very much to the good people that made my stay at hutton lodge wonderful

Overall location was ok if you wana be in georgetown, very clean, breakfast great bonus, but hard to meet other people because no social area and pretty souless. Only need 2 days in penang to do the island & batu ferringi cos there's not much else to do.

Would be nice to see something done with the large outside area. Even just some lounge chairs for relaxing or sunning. So much space available that a swimming pool would be great where it is the middle of the town and so hot and humid !

Excellent hostel, great showers and comfy beds. The only downer was the minibus which was organised to Krabi. TERRIBLE! Book your own journey there.
