more tourists than Khao san road in Bangkok. if you are after hundreds of identical pubs with expensive beer, heaps of neon and a big screen with football on it, then this is the place for you. the beach is good ok if you can find room amongst the crowds. oh and dont mind being hasseled to buy things every 5 minutes.

Patong beach was filled with the debauchery that Thailand is stereotyped to have! The older men holding hands with their young Thai "girlfriends" is really a sad sight to see! However with this being said...what an experience (I am part of a couple, so didn't engage in the debauchery), well worth seeing at least once in one's life!

Phuket was absolutely awesome!! The food there is incredible, especially the seafood. The day tours are awesome and we had Siam tours recommended to us and we thought the service was great. The best one was the one where they take you to James Bond Island; they put on a performance on the way back and its hilarious. But, when purchasing these you should bargain hard because you will be amazed at how low you can get them.

I loved PATONG. I first stayed in Phuket town for three days. PATONG is a great place to be if you are on Phuket Island. You can party from 6PM to 6AM and sunbath on the beach frm 12 ( or whenever you wake up). There is always accommodation in Patong yuou just have to look for it. You can eat like a king for such little money if you decide that you are going to eat Thai food and not go all out for Staks and Mainated Lobsters. Even in Bangla road there are a few bars that chare as little at 50 BHT for a beer. Tiger Club, Safari Club and the Banana Club are places to end up at the end of the night and really get some dancing done.

This town lives for the night life. When the u goes down countless bars, clubs and pubs open till the wee hours of the morning. The city is also full of go-go dancers and prostitutes more than willing to help touristspart with their money. If you are after a quite few weeks by the beach than Patong is NOT for you. The city is also flooded with street vendors trying to sell, clothing, DVD's and other goods. Mind you many of the goods for sale our of poor quality.

Stayed at patong beach in a hotel called Jinny\'s. Didn\'t really like Patong compared to other areas of Thailand, although a good starting point. The main strips of shopping became rather annoying as you have all the shop people trying to drag you into the store and selling you \'genuine brand name\' items at a highly inflated price. Recommend you look around before buying straight away- you can get a pair of pants one place for $5 or $50 depending on where you go! Check all clothes and items for quality/stitching etc. Certain areas very smelly, cannot sit down to relax for dinner anywhere unless it is a more expensive restaurant (eg burasari\'s) Tuk tuk prices fluctuate from 100THB to 500THB depending on who you go with. Still, an experience. Recommend going somewhere less touristy/ during low season. north Thailand and south east islands during the low season were much better!
