One of the most famous of Paris' monuments, building of it was finished under King Louis-Philippe. There is pedestrian access via an underpass and there is an exterior observation level which is accessible by a lift or stairs.

It is actually huge arc in the middle of big roundabout. DO NOT try to cross the road throught to the arc as there are no lines on the road and those drivers are just crazy. Arc is guarded with military as there is a soldier grave under it.close

An absolute must see attraction when in Paris probably its most famous of monuments. The Arc is the biggest triumphal arch in the world, it was commissioned by Napoleon and contains the tomb of the unknown soldier. There is access to the arc by means of an underpass so for god's sake do not try... more An absolute must see attraction when in Paris probably its most famous of monuments. The Arc is the biggest triumphal arch in the world, it was commissioned by Napoleon and contains the tomb of the unknown soldier. There is access to the arc by means of an underpass so for god's sake do not try to cross the road and there is also a lift to the obsevation deck. This is a must see and I can't stress that enough you haven't seen paris until you've seen the Arc de Triomphe.close

Having a pretty serious fear of heights, climbing the Eiffel Tower was never really an option for me when I was in Paris so the Arc de Triomphe seemed much more doable… and it was. Although the 286 steps you have to climb to the top can become quite daunting, the climb is worth every step as the view from the top is sensational. And be sure to have a look at the traffic down below too, those Parisian drivers are insane.close
