Hostal La Mimosa an Old Spanish Manor House. A perfect choice for budgetminded travellers. Mimosa is in the outskirts of Palma with beaches and gardens. Bus no 3 takes you to the attractions in the towncenter. Mimosa is managed by an International team, who have tried to retained the original character and features whilst creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. All rooms in the mainbuilding have en-suite bathroom and most have sea views, balcony or a terrace. Built in 1885 still going strong In our annex, with shared bathrooms we have double and triple rooms, a quadruple and dorms, overlooking the port of Cala Nova and the street going to Illetas and Portas Nous. (Could be noice from the street) For may - September we have on offer a family suite with kitchen, bathroom, balcony with seaview and two bedrooms, 4 - 5 (6) persons. Min stay 7 nights, shorter surcharge 50 E We have a pool, and in our garden we have figs, mandarins, oranges, and different palmtrees. We have two bars where you can meet the locals and other guests, perhaps try some of the local beers or food, chat and relax after a day on the beach. We have satellite TV and free internet access and WiFi in our bar and lobby. Our hostal is ideal for young people, families, couples and lone holidaymakers. We are only metres from the sea and close to a marina. Our aim is to offer a warm and friendly international atmosphere with a family feeling, 'a home away from home' for our guests.

Im a little sceptical when it scomes to hostels, but i would highly recommend anyone that goes to Majorca on a tight budget to stay in Mimosa. It has a wicked bar, friendly helpful service, a pool and its soo close to 3 beaches. Would not have wanted to stay anywhere else!!

If we have in count the price of the rooms there is absolutely nothing to complaint. Swimming pool, good breakfast, internet, good staff, a lot of space and good location near to the beach. Really good even if the rooms and the bathrooms are not great. I recommend it.

a very nice place except for a weird and extremely annoying noise during the whole night which I believe belonged to rats. might depend on a room you stay in or whatever, but owners definitely need to tackle the "issue" to reflect otherwise almost perfect image of the hostel.

We heard a reapeated scratching sound from the net covered ventilator in the bathroom, a sound that we suspected originated from a rat. One night I found a huge cockroach in my bed. Maybe these are things you have to count with sometimes, but they were unpleasant and influenced our impression.

The Mimosa combines a big old (built circa 1885) semi-crumbling house full of character with a 1970s annex arranged around its own pool and gardens. It is situated in the coastal suburb of Sant Agusti, about 3 miles south west of and 25 minutes on a bus from Palma city centre. The location feels like a quiet residential area, but is next to the main road which has bars and cafes about 5 minutes walk away. This is ideal. Other areas of Palma are one big Club 18-30 resort, but this is not. There are a couple of micro beaches just a few hundred metres walk. If you have to be in the centre of Palma to walk to the bars this might not be the place for you, but the Number 3 bus stop is just a few minutes from the front door. The Mimosa felt more like a small hotel. Any Brits reading this will understand what I mean when I say this place reminded me of Basil Fawlty's Fawlty Towers in the best possible way. There were local guests who were real characters in the bar. I was particularly reminded of the "Hotel Iinspector" episode as the staff initially thought (incorrectly) that I was a spy from HostelWorld ! The Mimosa is owned and run by a Swedish family who are really friendly and fluent English speaking. They also have other staff working in the bar (thanks girls) and gardens. Breakfast is and served in a room which like the bar overs the sea and marina, 200m away. They also serve hot food at lunchtime. I think there were more staff than guests when I was there. The dorms were closed when I arrived so I got given a room to myself with a terrace - fantastic. I can't say enough good things about this place. I only paid €18 which includes breakfast and free Internet access. If this was not my first visit to Palma I would not have left the hostal and just sat in the bar overlooking the pool and sea with a good book to read. It is a real Oasis. It is two bus rides to get to the airport (no3 and no1). I left the Mimosa with two hours before my check-in closed but from the Hostel to the departure gate took just 1 hour 20mins, even in the busy morning traffic. Note, my visit was in March, so everywhere was quiet. The character of any place will probably be different during the busy summer months, but I will certainly return in the Spring months. Thank you Ingrid, Suena and the others.close

The German host family is top nice. I completely love this place and they even let us use the fabulous oven to cook crabs. I LOVE COOKING. Although it is a little bit far away from the center, it just beside the beach. So, it depends on which one you want to choose.
