Paihia is a relaxing place in the Bay of Islands. Great for lying on the beach in good weather. Nightlife is surprisingly good for a small place with a few bars lining the main street. Fish and chips (aka "fush n chups" in the local language!) rules here, with many restaurants offering cheap fresh battered fish and yummy chips. Highly reccommend a trip to 90 mile beach where you can do sandboarding. You can book this from the numerous tour operators in the town. |
