This hostel pretty much charges you to breathe. But, it has great facilities, friendly staff, and it's the best location in Paihia.

we were actually quite disappointed. first of all we had to pay more than it said on hostelworld. Our room was also very dirty and the toilet was just a box in the wall with a wood plate without lock. not so fun when someone in the room goes up and does nr.2 four times every night.

Walking distance to shops and main attractions. Located with all the other backpacker hostels. Close to bars.

My first & last "experience" in a YHA! We shared a 4 bed dorm w/80 year old men who snored, snorted & one even had to set his alarm every 2hrs so as not to wet himself! We shared a 4 bed dorm w/80 year old men who snored, snorted & one even had to set his alarm every 2hrs so as not to wet himself! An old & boring crowd (felt like nanna camp)! Try the base next door. Much smaller & personal than the base chain in the city. Glad i had a car to sleep in at 2:30 when i'd had enough! Once in a yha is enough for me. Staff didnt care about the situation and denied my refund request. Dont do it to yourself!!!!!!!close

A lovely hostel. Great location and a really relaxed atmosphere. Not many rooms which meant there's not too many people. Shame about the weather but will definately be returning!

Reasonable hostel - what you'd expect from a YHA good standard but the fun police are out in droves

the wardens who run this are great. Good kitchen and nice ensuite rooms. Atmosphere was very friendly with a wide range of nationalities and age groups. Do bbok in advance in summer. It can be very difficults to find vacancies at reasonable prices.
