Excellent seafood restaurant located right below Akershus Fortress. Fabulous food and atmosphere with very helpful and friendly staff. Pricey relative to restaurants in other cities but good value for money in Oslo (across the water in the touristy Aker Brygge part of town a French screw cap Vin de Table house wine can set you back €68!). A pity it's only open in Summer. If you want a treat on your visit to Oslo then look no further.

This is, by far, my favorite restaurant in Oslo. I may be a bit prejudiced, however, since my husband and I had our wedding reception there. The food is incredibly fresh and delicious, served in a refined but unpretentious way. Don't miss their gravlaks or their reindeer fillet. And if you go around the Christmas holidays, you MUST try the pinnekjoett (salt cured lamb ribs). At Holmenkollen Restaurant, you'll taste exquisite new flavors in rustically elegant surroundings--all with one of the best views in Norway.
