Place was clean but not exactly presentable. The building had a feel about it that was not exactly positive however it was clean. A cheap convenient place to stay.

This hostel shouldn't be on hostelworld. It's a half-way house for old men and we met no other travellers there, just men walking around in their underwear. I'm disappointed that somewhere like this is on the website.

Saw a cockroach in there. The showers are communal and the bath has a bicycle in it. Its very cheap, from 2000 Yen for the first floor to 1000 Yen for the 5th floor, you get what you pay for really.close

Free internet at neighbouring hotel. Mixed bathrooms with a row of odourous urinals slightly intimidating. I thought this place was fine until I awoke with bed bug bites on the 2nd morning. However, the staff were really helpful, discounted my next night considerably AND transferred me to an upgraded room in the neighbouring Hotel Taiyoh.close

It works okay because it's VERY CHEAP! but the area is not very nice and the hostel is a bit dirty and old as well. Next time we'd pay 200 yen more to have air conditioning for the 2 nights we stayed.

Toyo has so bad environment unhappily. but the staff so kind, especially workers at noon staff so kind & funny :) but, I'm so warm in there which has no airconditioner. It's so important on summer.

Have low expectations, only for the true backpacker. No towels provided for group showers. No way to reserved room with A/C.

The hotel was and average hotel, the rooms were okay equipped with a small T.V. and fan but the pillows are not really comfortable. Service is okay. I would recommend other hotels in the same area before this one though.

It's what you get for your money. The bathrooms are hideous though - fyi cleaning it with water from a hose is not a good idea. Shower rooms were equally suspect.

There are a few stories and no lift, but the front desk were very helpful carrying our bags up for us. There is one western toilet on the 2nd floor. The shower room is only open from 6-10am and then 6-10pm the only time you can get hot water (the washbasins on your floor have only cold water). It was pretty safe and secure and the front staff were friendly and helpful but didn't speak much english, they have a sister hotel just around the corner where you can use the internet for free and also their bath if you need to shower outside the times above). It was very cheap, and very easy to find with the instructions on hostelworld.!close

the room was clean but the bathroom was disgusting. I thought I was going to vomit because of the smell. The wait for the shower was ridiculous. It was freezing cold and there was no heat and my heater was broken. Would never recommend this hostel or come back.

Unlike most of the travellers hostels and youth hostels on this website, Hotel Toyoh is a bussiness hotel in a dodgi area of Osaka. Though cheap and close to the city center, it might be scary for girls who are comming by themselves. I was not prepared...

Shared show and toilets. If you're over 1.7 metre then you will need to bend your head to enter the room. Tiny rooms but good for single person. Place is probably two star but good when you simply need a place to lay your weary body for a few nights. The one I was in was exactly 1.7 metres wide. Location in town is around where the locals are. If you want to peek under the glitz and glamour of the the tourist end of town then this is the place for you. BTW there are a stack of other reasonably priced places to stay in the same area of town. There is a young fellow at the front counter who knows functional english. He is working on it at the moment. I saw him shuffle off at 5 pm so if you get there afterwards without pre-booking you will have to think of plenty of sign language to communicate what you want. Unless you have already prebooked via hostelworld like I did. Oh, and if a couple are "making music" in the room next to you then you will probably hear the whole orchestra as I was able to hear a bloke coughing in the room next to me during the night.close

This is the cheapest business hotel among a bunch of cheap business hotels in a rather shady area. It's populated by old men, many of whom live there. The shower room has limited hours.

Place was a bit creepy. Mostly dominated by males, so I wouldn't suggest for girls to stay here without an escort. However the price was cheap, and the place was close to Universal Studios, so all in all, probably an even trade. Just remember you get what you paid for.
