I was appalled at the dirty mattress cover, filthy bathroom, and hair filled drain in shower that didn't drain the water. I asked for a refund and did not stay beyond one hour.

This is not so much a hostel as it is a home. It's like a little oasis on the North Shore. The place is very clean and beautiful. The rooms are a bit small, and they seem to overbook - putting more than 4 people in a 4 bed room. They also could use some more bathrooms and parking. But it was...

I chose this hostel, because I thought it would be a little nicer than the surfer hang out down the road. It was nice, but it was deserted! and it was difficult to get to places to do things in the evenings, because of the busy road outside and the lack of evening activities on the north shore....

Caught the bus from the airport and pretty much dropped us to the doorstep (not that we realised it at the time). Friendly dog Maui (don't get put off by her bark - she just wants attention). Lots of cats. Did not realise that could not pay by credit card so had to fork over all my traveller's chqs which I was lucky to have enough of. Maria the owner is lovely but the cleaner can't speak a word of english (get your spanish books ready!) Was on the doorstep of Sunset beach and within walking distance of Pipeline. The supermarket is 2 miles away so wear comfortable shoes and get ready to sweat for this walk! Also there is a very expensive internet here so we went to the internet cafe opposite the supermarket which was very cheap. Overall a beautiful place to relax and do absolutley nothing.close

However the 4-person shared room is SUPER HOT in the summer since there is no window in that room. The room itself is not that clean, maybe there are not many people staying there in the summer time, I can see some dead bugs left on the sheet. The kitchen is pretty good, lots of pots and utensils but the fridge is fully occupied by the house owner so you have to squeeze your food into it. Another thing is you need to pay extra $10 for cleaning fee which is not mentioned in the website. And they don't take credit card. So, make sure you have enough cash for the room charges. Unlike normal hostel, they don't really have travelling or tour information. They have tour books around but no brochure or any special event news. The cleaning lady speaks Hawaiian only, she doesn't speak English but she is very nice and helpful. And as a single female, I found I am a bit nervous if I get back there after dark since it's a residential area there and there are not many pedestians. You also have to walk for a short distance in dark to get to the house - they don't have any street lamp in that private road. So, remember to bring a flash light. The location is great since there are bus stops nearby and it's within walking distance to the Sunset beach. VERY NICE !close

And if you need animal interaction because you miss your pets at home, friendly outdoor cats and a sweet dog await your attention and affection. Top it off with a beautiful stretch of beach just across the road and some of the best snorkeling on Oahu is just down the road less than five minutes away. Wonderful!close

Do not waste your time in Waikiki, this is the real hawaii. Fantastic 6 person huts with self contained kitchens, bathrooms and living areas. Clean and full of character. 5 minutes rid from all the best surfing like Pipe and Waimea. 100m from supermarket and nice swimming beach. Perfect.

I was charged and extra fee for room cleaning service which also included daily sheats exchange I was suppose to have and in a week never did get either service nor a single towel. This was not in my contract with hostelworld which I fully respected and compromised. Thank you.

I am from Taiwan. I stay there several nights. It's a nice place, where away from noise Waikiki Beach. By the way, I like the (Spani?!) music paly at night. Would you let me know that who is the singer for the songs, Mr. Caruso?

I was a woman alone and felt completely safe. The property is beautiful. A perfect relaxing get away in the summer. Winter is crowded with die hard surfers.
