A litle kaos geting around harbour. Very nice in the fishmarket where you can get lunch or dinner by yourself for a good price |

Bergen is doing pretty well as an outpost of civilisation in the rugged north |

Great city for sightseeing and discovering much about Norways past. Bring plenty of $$! Food and especially drinks are quite expensive. |

Rumor has it that it always rains in Bergen but I was lucky and had 2 back to back days of sunshine while I was there. It is a fairly small city and everything pretty much is within walking distance including the cable cars if the weather is nice. I would not spend more than 2 nights here because it can pretty much all be seen in a day or so. |

Extremely expensive place. Just think about a €3 loaf of bread, or 23€ pack of rolling tobacco or €15 McDonalds menu. If you go there, bear in mind this will be even worse than you think.Supermarkets are the only way to go if you don't have a lot of money and there is a good chance you won't have a lot of money.
Give a reservation a serious thought. We were there over a weekend and everything was booked out some 60 miles around.
Now, why go there anyway?? Because it is a beautiful city and it is a great place to visit fjords and that, my friends, is really worth the financial trouble!! |

Bergen is a good base for skiing in Voss - you can buy a pass at the station for 400 kroner which includes return train and bus and the ski pass. And the train journey alongside the fjord is fantastic! |

Expensive town, but great surrounds and lovely roads with wooden houses. And great for a night out as well. |

Very beautiful market/fishing town. Definitely worth a visit despite all the rain! |

lovely city but we were priced out of the best trips and from eating out. |

it is too expensive to eat out in bergen, it's even more expensive than oslo! be prepared to eat frozen pizzas or cook your own pasta. the hostel was very convenient, right smack in the middle of the street. but be prepared for hospital-style living, which works out to be fine actually. |

Highly recommendable.Bergen is one of the most beautiful cities I have seen yet, and we found our hostel, Citybox Bergen, to be a nice, clean, pleasant place with bright rooms, well situated within easy walking distance from the centre of town. |

The energy that comes out of this charming city is unreal. Shouldn't be missed. Awesome landscape. |

I was fortunate with good weather, it is a truly beautiful and unique city, friendly people and a strong regionaal culture was apparent. To non-Norwegians however it is extremely expensive [31% VAT!]. |

bergen is a very nice place with very nice people. everything was very expensive in comparison to the uk so buy some vodka on the flight!! having two litres of vodka certainly helps you to meet people too! because of goverment policies nobody goes out until after 23:00 or maybe 00:00 to save money so everywhere is fairly quiet. very good fun once it starts though. |

A Beautiful city |

I think Bergen is a pretty good city for backpackers. Things to do is "fløybanen" the aqarium and " Ulrikken". And of course a lot of shopping. |

We shared the dormitory with heavy metal fans. Staff charge for towels, and are not really helfull, they are very busy runing the pub. No bathroom, you have to use the mirror in the toilets. Showers were ok though. There are only 2 hair dryers to share with everyone. Kitchen well equiped with large tables. Good location still. |

Everything (churches, sites of intererst, museums, etc) in the city is within walking distance, and it\'s really a blessing to be bathed with the warm, lovely sunshine characteristic of Scandinavia in the summer. |

The city really suits nicely for the fjords around the Bergen region, since you will find a large number of travel agencies operating various tours experiencing the breathtaking beauty of nearby fjords. Meanwhile the tourist information center is simply terrific. |
