At last Bergen has a centrally located and cheap hostel / guesthouse for those who wish to spend their money on something more than just a bed - an excellent base for exploring the city. MARKEN GJESTEHUS is a reasonably priced ( from NOK 175,- per pers ) and pleasant alternative to hotel accommodation ideal for both individuals and groups or families. We offer new, comfortable, light and airy rooms of a good standard. We have 21 rooms in total, in rooms with 1 to 8 beds. For the rooms that not have private bathroom, you will find excellent restrooms/ shower facilities in the corridor. All rooms that are listed here has shared bathroom, and all the rooms has bunk beds. For request for rooms with private bathroom, and 2 bed rooms with double bed ( two seperate beds ) please contact Marken Gjestehus directly. We are located in the heart of Bergen, within walking distance of transport and attractions. Banks, post office, food stores and restaurants are also close at hand. Marken Gjestehus also have all the facilities you would expect of a modern guesthouse; pleasant rooms for relaxing, TV lounge, fully equipped guest kitchen and laundry and dry cleaning facilities. Breakfast can be ordered , and free coffee and tea is available around the clock. Bedlinen / towels for rent, or you can bring your own.Free Wireless Zone. Welcome to an informal atmosphere. We will do our utmost to make your stay a pleasant one!

very nice hostel, excellent kitchen facility and minutes from ICA supermarket. not particularly socially but winter time in norway attracts different types of travellers from the summer season. TV in the kitchen/meals area. perfectly clean. will def return

This is a truly excellent hostel! Spotlessly clean! Marshmallow beds! HUGE lockers! Great kitchen facilities. Close to the train station. Couldn't ask for a better place!

No complaints! Very clean and easy to get to. I arrived after the reception closed and they prepare very well for late arrivals. The girl at the reception is super nice!! I would stay here again.

Great location near the train station and close to attractions. Unfortunately, had the rudest roomates ever! They decided to turn the light on at 4am and decided to repack their bags for one hour before leaving. Hostel karma gave me a room to myself the following night!

Excellent cooking facilities. Would benefit from sink in bedrooms but facilities generally good. only problem with no staffing overnight out of season it appeared some noisy youths had access to lounge area and security was possibly compromised.

This hostel is located very near to the train station and the city center (5-8 minutes on foot). The reception opens in short time (0930 to 1630), but they prepare for guests coming late. It was very clean both in corridor, rooms, toilet and shower. There are a comfort sofa, fully equipped...

Great hostel, nice staff, very clean, what a view. just please include the linen in the price. Shower is a bit less warm when more showers are in use.

The location was nice and the kitchen fantastic and modern, but, if you're looking for a backpacker atmosphere definitely try to find another place. It was so boring!

Definately a place you go to for a quiet night's sleep. location isn't bad as such (as Bergen's pretty walkable) you just have to look for the entrance. The common room was always full of people who didn't even stay at the hostel, which didn't do the atmosphere any good. Rooms were pretty decent, and it's probably best value for money in Oslo. Silly though that they don't allow sleeping bags even if you bring a mattress and pillow cover.

Stayed last year. Absolutely great place to stay. Kitchen was big enough and sociable. Rooms were clean and well-sized, as were the showers and toilets. Highly reccommend it.

Overall very nice hostel with great location. Enjoyed our stay there very much. Great kitchen and sitting area. Probably one of the best hostels I stayed so far in Europe.

Apart from the key mix up when we arrived late on the Friday night this place was fantastic. It is quiet, clean and the beds are comfortable. It is also just a short stroll down to the water. I would thoroughly recommend this place for visitors to Bergen.

marken gjesthus is a great place to stay, with wonderfully accommodating staff and clean, quiet rooms. it's in a great location, within walking distance to pretty much everything in bergen. highly recommended.

The place is a good option to stay. Just have to be careful with the "front desk" hours, we arrived at 8.30 and it opens till 9 so we waited just half hour. But if you are checking in very early or late, it might be a problem
