This marsh region is the largest on the Atlantic coast and the second largest in France, there is plenty to do here and it is possible to go boating in traditional barques down the green coloured canals that cover the land.
Le Marais Poitevin is also known as "La Venise Verte" (Green Venice) - it is a marsh region in the Poitou Charente region of France. It is situated north of La Rochelle and near Niort.
