It was recommended to us by a local, not-very-popular, pop singer. It was described as the perfect place, but when we finally managed to find it (with the help of 3 GPSes), it turned out to be the perfect pigsty (a place, where pigs live and do other things). It was very packed, the tables were small and the stuff was refusing to speak English (we also refused to speak French and one of the main reasons was that we DON'T speak French at all). However, we managed to order somehow, but guess what: the food was rubbish, and fortunately, the portions were small. Тhe only good thing about is that it is a low-cost solution, making it favorite for the not-very-rich immigrants and gastarbeiters (and probably some of the poor locals). If I had to recommend you a place in Nice, it will definitely NOT be Restaurant du Gesu. If you are visitor of Nice and someone (probably an enemy of yours) recommends you this place, do not try to search for it hard, because you may be unlucky enough and you may find it.close

Gesu is so popular that the tables fill up fast, so be there by 7 p.m. when it opens or you might have to wait. It is located in a small square in Old Nice, somewhat away from the other larger, more touristy places, which makes it a quiet and relaxing place to have dinner. There is a huge pale blue and yellow Italian church towering over the square, so the ambiance was fantastic. The atmosphere is casual, with very nice waiters, especially one man who was very enthusiastic and always happy. The food was quite tasty and I thought the prices were about average for Nice for the kind of restaurant it was. It is a good place to take either a date or the family. I liked it so much that I went back the evening before I left. Actually, eating there was one of my fondest memories of my trip.close

With its outdoor seating, friendly staff, and menu full of main courses costing under €10, it will come as no surprise that locating a seat in this restaurant can prove to be very challenging.
