The attractions around and about were well worth it though, penguins on the Otago peninsula were the highlight and the Speights brewery is well worth a visit!! As for the weather, they call it the Edinburgh of the south and with good reason, climate is decidedly Scottish, bring a jacket!!!close

2Not too far from the city center. Easy downhill walk into town. Hard uphill walk back, but hey, Dunedin is a hilly town. This place is a good deal for the price. Not posh, but nice enough. Go to the Cadbury factory too.close

YHA Dunedin 80%
It is a pity guests do not know how to clean up after themselves and not leave it for the staff. I certainly did enjoy myself. The staff are/were really amazing and very helpful everytime Ihad to ask them,they could help everytime. Cheers for now Bruce C.

– posted on Nov 2008 1Slightly out of town but not too far to walk. The staff are really helpful and a good selection of movies for a quiet night in. Wasn't very busy when we were there but a good laugh non the less.

We were refused a BBH discount as we had booked via Hostel World. Therefore card holders may prefer to book directly by phone. shabby poorly equiped kitchen. Mouse droppings and fruit-flies throughout. Hired staff excellent, Manager rude & unpleasant. Big Hill, Good beds, nice views.

– posted on Jan 2008 8We arrived in the morning and could not check in at that time. The staff asked us to just put our luggage in the TV room near the entrance. There was no lock for the room and everyone could enter it easily. I think there was a great problem with the security.

The nature reserve park on Taiaroa Head has been so untouched and undamaged by man that the animals have no fear of human visitors. We were able to walk among young seals basking in the sun on grassy banks by the water’s edge without causing the animals any stress.
