If you dont want to pay to go to the top of the Rock you could try the Rock bar - a great place to visit before sunset and you still get almost as good a view as from the top to the Rock Centre.close

That really sums up my Rockefeller experience. In my opinion its the best view in the whole of NYC, better than the Empire State Building i think, from one side you can see right up through Central park and all of the upper east and west sides and you even get a glimpse further up into Harlem and the Bronx. From the South you can see the Empire State building, Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, Wall Street...you name it! We went at Christmas time and had great fun looking at the tree in the bottom of the centre, then ice skating and finally climbing right to the top. It was evening by the time we reached the top and we were in time to see all the city lights being turned on...and everything being transformed from purple and blue evening sun to the twinkling city lights at night time. Once of my most memorable NYC moments.close
