When you walk into Tao it is quite a sight to see A 15-foot gilt Buddha perched in a gurgling fountain overlooking the whole restaurant. Housed in a former movie theater, Tao makes the most of its soaring ceiling, exposed brick walls and intimate banquettes. In addition to the Buddha, there's plenty of bamboo, silk upholstery and backlit screens. Much of the food, a fusion of Hong Kong Chinese, Japanese and Thai, is tasty. There's a page of sushi appetizers to start and most of the rest of the menu is vaguely Chinese in origin. A hip after-work crowd packs the lively bar scene. I have been here twice - once with another couple and once with friends - both times the atmosphere was fantastic and the place uber cool. |

Chic New York eatery with great fusion food, good looking waiters and a real Sex in the City vibe. Gigantic buddha with coloured lighting adds a really cool feel to the place. Try the cocktails - taohitos were yum! |

Great place in Greenwich: First tip – make a reservation in advance, it’s a really small place and fills up really quickly, especially at weekends. Secondly you have to try the mojitos! They are the best I have had in a long time. I think nearly everyone in there was sipping on them while we were there. The strawberry daiquiri is good too, bit strong though!!
The atmosphere here is electric – live music and cocktails, can’t get better than that really. They have live Cuban/latin music upstairs. There is also an area downstairs but its quite loud and a bit dark down there, the live music is upstairs. We had prawns and red snapper for dinner, it was really nice and the price is really reasonable |

Tao is just really cool. It’s got a huge Buddha that sits on the ground floor and practically touches the ceiling. Its slick, dark and serves great cocktails. Theres a great buzz also. The food is delicious. Highlights were the beef, noodles and great wine. |

Best Brunch in New York, food is delish!! You have to try a Bloody Mary here (yum, yum)!! and you can walk it all off with a stroll in nearby Central Park....what more could you ask for on a Saturday in New York!! |

Coppola's restaurant is an Italian restaurant on 3rd Avenue (near the corner of 3rd avenue and East 25th St). Decor in the restaurant is gorgeous and the food matched. Nice relaxed atmosphere with yummy food. Very extensive menu, too much choice! Has a wide range of pizzas and pastas, meat and fish dishes. Would highly reccommend the lemon almond sole for main course. Staff are very attentive... a bit too much so at times! |

Planet Hollywood is located in Times Square, in the heart of the hustle and bustle. The restaurant is extremely relaxed fun atmosphere. Food is the usual mix of grill style, with burgers, pizza's, mexican etc. Loud music and decor consisting of celebrity memorabilia, ensures that the night is a fun one, with a large cocktail and bar menu to go with the food. Not very good for a quiet meal however due to the music, but great for family meals, and a quick bite to eat before or after a show on Broadway.
Located at 45th & Broadway in Times Square. |

The View Restaurant in the Marriot Marquis Hotel on Times Square is a place really for lovers of heights and not for the faint hearted - Perched a top the hotel, the recently renovated View Restaurant is New York City's only revolving rooftop restaurant. Enjoy a breathtaking 360 view from the heart of the Times Square Theatre District amid an all-encompassing dining experience.
The food was good but a little ordinary but then again you are paying for the view rather than the food! |

Lombardi's was licensed by the City of New York in 1905 to start selling pizza and therfore can make the claim that is it is America's First Pizzeria - which is quite a claim it is situated in Little Italy on the corner of spring Street and Mott street - and their pizza's are devine - now dont expect anything else but pizza there are no starters or deserts just good decent pizza and the wine list is not very long but you get exactly what you want and going by the clientelle it has still managed to remain a local favourite with mostly new yorkers eating in it and italian new yorkers at that - it is not expensive but get there early otherwise you will be queing out on the street |

Fantastic restaurant in the meat packing district in New York. Cuisine is Asian mix. The decor of this restaurant alone makes it worth a visit, but thankfully the food is amazing and the staff couldn't be friendlier, they are happy to recommend a dish. The location is also great for heading on for a drink |

This is a long running establishment at one of the gates of Central Park, NY. Drop in to make a booking before your stroll around Central Park and then come back and enjoy being pampered. The food is good and the cocktails even better. Restaurant decor is a little over the top and tacky but atmosphere is nice if a little snooty. Despite this it is well worth the visit! |

Great restaurant with an amazing view over Times Square. The food is a little expensive but it is worth it. The pasta & steak dishes are delicious! |

Planet Hollywood is full of celebrity stuff, like Handprints, Celebrity Photos & Promotional Film Material. While you wait for your food you can admire all this, we even noticed a car hanging down from the ceiling! We got there late one night so only had a drink, the menu did look good though. |

Great atmosphere and even better Mojitos! Live music the whole time and the place is packed. The food was only ok but it's just such a cool place to spend an evening. |

This place was very hyped a few years ago and possibly still is. I had a great evening there a few years back and a few afternoon meals since. However it''s nothing to shout about. I would not want anyone going there thinking its something very special. It's not! It's small. It’s a little bit dirty and the service sucks.
What seems to drive this place is simply the good food and the fact that anyone could walk in the door at any time. It's just that sort of place. It's worth and afternoon lunch or a simple evening out but don’t go there if you are looking for that something a wee bit special. |

I loved this restaurant! Very New York ... Sex and the city style. Asian Fusion food, surly waiters, great cocktails and a cool floor to ceiling buddha. |

Great location just off Times Square. They have really great burgers! This is one of the best dinners that I nad in NY. The staff are really really friendly and make a huge effort with guests. They all gather around guests tables for their birthdays and sing. They make time for every guest. Good value too! |

Not cheap but one a New York institution for upscale brunch. Their special scramble -- and their fresh jams -- make it absolutely worth the trip. I think they have a few locations but we always go to the location on the Upper West Side (Columbus Ave, I think, in the low 80s). Relax on a Sunday or "power up" for a long day of shopping. Yum! |

Nice decor. Good place for loooong, atmosphere dinners. Reservations needed, you'll never just walk in. |

Amazingly good food with and an enormous wine list (over 40 pages I think!) Prices are very reasonable (especially if you are from the UK). Great service, great night |

Great wine selection; non-pushy server. Loved the french onion soup-gruyere galore! |

Broadway Bagels is one of the best-known places in Manhattan to get bagels. If you're staying in the Upper West Side look no further for breakfast or lunch. |

This Chelsea bar/restaurant is a great place for lunch. They do a great deal for $10 which includes sandwich and soup. Staff are really friendly also and when it's cold they have an open fireplace also. |

How can you go to the big apple and not visit the Empire State Building? Only regret I have is I didn't visit it at night. My tip is to pay the extra few bucks for the combo-ticket. Queues aren't as bad then. |

This is a revolving restaurant/bar on Times Square. I didn't have food here but have been twice for drinks. They have a good cocktail list (including the boo-berry!) and a good list of wines. Obviously good for the views also... |

Touristy, loud, bit rude but great views of Time Square and a bit of Fun. Food is a bit pricey but it's good. Lots of tasty shrimp. |

Corio is the prime example of everything a "supper club" should be. Located in Manhattan's SoHo village, Corio combines fine dining, great music, drinks, and authentic burlesque performances for a guaranteed amazing evening. The menu is eclectic and features Mediterranean tapas and hearty entrees. The drink menu is extensive, the sound system is top-knotch, and the burlesque performances are sure to please. Stop by for a unique Manhattan experience. |

Balthazar is a great French bistro in Soho. Food is served from breakfast right through to dinner with an after hours menu at the weekend. The restaurant is large and airy and also includes a raw seafood bar as well as a bakery. We arrived in the afternoon for a late lunch and Balthazar was surprisingly busy but I reckon this is the kind of place that is always busy. The restaurant was nicely decorated for Christmas with lots of twinkling white lights which really added to the atmosphere. The menu includes moules frites, duck shepherds pie, steak tartare and duck confit. The food was great and surprisingly reasonable. There's also an extensive wine list. Balthazar was the perfect place to enjoy a long, lazy lunch in New York. I'll be back for dinner next time I'm in town! |

Obviously being the in the heart of NY - had a great time going in, I think it's safe to say the majority of the staff were out of work actors. They all had a lot of energy - and genuinely was a nice atmosphere!
They had a camera that they randomly went around filming people which then appeared moments later!
A great laugh, and the food was nice too.
Typical Burger and fries, pizza's etc.. on the menu!
all reasonably priced.
but the Meal was very nice i seem to remember.
all in all a good night!

Located in the centre of the city, heart of Times Square, the Hard Rock Cafe is the place to go to enjoy the buzz of Times Square. The food was pretty standard but the atmosphere is what this place is really about, would certainly recommend it for an evening meal or lunch. |

Ok this restaurant is by far my favourite restaurant in NYC (so far!). Its an Asian restaurant, quite "posh" - often spot stars here! We ordered a really nice bottle of white wine, on the waiters recommendation. Our waiter was so friendly and helped us in making choices from the extremely enticing menu! We were told its best to share the food, which we were more than happy to do - you get to try everything then!. For starter we had chicken wings (they were HOT) and mussels which were so yum. Then we ordered a malaysian chicken curry which again was outstanding and then also the cod, which was again fab. I honestly cant fault this place, its well worth a visit, even if it is a tad more expensive than your average Asian restaurant. Then though we were pretty stuffed by the time it was desert, we ordered it anyway. Again we asked for a recommendation. So we went for the strange and curious desert called Thai Jewels on crushed coconut ice. You can also come here and just have some drinks in the bar, they have lovely cocktails worth trying. |

If you have already done the Empire State Building but still looking for somewhere to look out over the city of New York, then this is the place for you. The restaurant/bar is located on the top floor, think its on the 45th floor. They have a revolving floor so you can sit and relax while getting a panoramic view of the city. You have to pay an entrance fee - $7 when we were there. We just had some champagne, chilled out and people-watched! We didnt have any food, but it was a buffet style set-up, so depends on what you are looking for I guess. |

This place is one of the more famous steakhouses in NYC. Tad stuffy in atmopshere but the food is amazing. We booked this place well in advance, but still couldnt get a booking other than for 5.30 pm. So we starved ourselves so we'd have room for the fillet steaks! it was a Monday evening, and the place was jammers. Full of business people so perfect if you are looking for somewhere to bring clients or colleagues. The staff were more than attentive. The wine list is extensive but we struggled to find a bottle for less than $50! It was lovely though so not complaining. Ordered crab cake to share (enough for 2) and it was so good. Then we both had steaks (8oz is enough - we couldnt finish them!) - you have to order your sides separate. NoRecommend the asparagus and mash! No room for desert unfortunately. |

Wonderful place for a coffee and cake, bohemian atmoshpere perfect for reading the paper, scribbling down thoughts or watch people come and go. Try the yoghurt with fruits and honey, it is so tasty. Brick walls, French posters and attentive staff.
And yes, it was here Meg Ryan was waiting for Tom Hanks (in vain) in the film "You've got mail"! |

Incredibly rude staff, but in a good way. Fantastic, proper New york style food, lots of fun in a big group. A note of warning - don't eat lunch if you go for dinner, the portions are BIG! |

Great casual diner type place in Soho. We went there for breakfast and had the french toast, was yummy! The menu is extensive with something for everyone - omlettes, salads, crepes, burgers, sandwiches, pizzas and soups. They also have smoothie and juice bar. |

If you are after real Mexican food this is the place to go. We tried a few dishes as it all sounded so good - the best we had was the quesadillas camarones (shrimp tortilla) and the chayotes and jalapenos side dish. |

I had the Sushi Mania for $19.50 - but all sushi is HALF PRICE so just over £10 after tax. Really good value for 8 pieces of tuna, salmon and yellowtail (and a salmon roll as well). The only downside was a slightly stringy piece of tuna.
The place is painted bright yellow so you can't miss it at the Avenue A end of St Marks Place just across from Tompkins Square Park. It's a lot more well-lit than most of the 'cosier' restaurants around. If its too bright then I'd still recommend this as a place to get a bite to eat before going onto some of the many other bars in the area. |

Luke's is a nice, friendly place to have a drink or a casual meal. The food ranges from good pub grub to steak and great specials. The burger here is one of the most underrated in the city. It is flavorful and cooked exactly to your specifications. There is good beer on tap, a decent array of bottles, and the drinks are well-made. Get there early if there's a Yankees game, as the place fills up. It's not a sports bar, but they support New York teams and have a couple of flatscreens. |

This restaurant is located in Greenwich Village a little off the beaten track. The inside is really warm and cosy. We had the best Mojitos i ever tasted before dinner. The food is quite hearty. There isnt a lot of choice on the menu but it all seems tempting. We had flatbread to start for which the restaurant is apparently famous.
For mains i had Paella which was beautiful, clams, mussels, prawns, chicken and chorizo, perfectly cooked. My friends had lamb and duck and they also really liked theirs. The staff were friendly and the bill was reasonable. I would definately recommend. |

I heard how great this place is from a few people and it was diffcult to get a booking but we eventually managed to get one for 10pm on Friday night. When we got there our table wasn't ready so we happily ordered some cocktails from the bar. When our table still wasn't ready by 10.45pm we weren't quite so happy. We eventually sat down and ordered some wine and were advised that everything would run smoothly from that point. We ordered some mussels to share to start and the cod and a Malaysian chicken curry. The mussels were delicious and we also ordered some chicken wings as we were told we had been offered a complimentary starter for the long wait. When these didn't arrive we didn't worry too much but when one main course arrived and another complimentary starter came out instead of the other mains we started to lose patience. Eventually the other mains arrived without the complimentary chicken wings! The food was delicious, I couldn't fault it. Our waitress was great and she gave us a free bottle of wine which helped! The decor is great, the food is great and I would go back but I would say where possible try to go to Spice Market during the week unless you have a couple of hours to spare. |

Was touted as a uber-cool place, but really it's a wood lined cavern, with a glass picture at one end. When you get over the inital wow, and are seated, you begin to get uncomfortable quickly.
First, you very close to the table beside ... certainly close enough to be intimately involved in their conversation. It was quite funny when we noticed that the couple beside us were interpersing Spanish into their conversation.. as we had already started to use a couple of words in Irish!
Next you realise that the droning pointless music is very loud too... this in an effort to stifle the conversation problem above. All in all .. quite uncomfortable.
Oh yeah ... the food. Limited menu. Amuse bouche was very nice, but after that it was all quite disappointing. The chef has talent, but the execution vould have been better.
Maybe the room had already killed our night, so there was no going back!
Another reason not to trust the concierge and to look for reviews from friends! Poor recomendation. |

High brow Italian. Not a great room, not great service, not great food. Really a place for welathy Italian locals to be fawned over by staff, not foody tourists!
I'm not sure that adding truffle to a farily ordinary pasta dish makes it a great pasta dish. |

I love breakfast in authentic NY diners. They far outstrip the standard fare in hotels, and have an atmosphere all of their own.
This one is open 24 hours, so you might catch breakfast on your way home!
It's on 9th and 43rd-ish ... a couple of blocks from Time Square. |

Top end unfussy Italian. Great pasta. Great salads. I loved it.
Full of beautiful people (hence my missus got us in!). Seemed to be a few celebs there too.
Really great food and a fab atmosphere. We went Saturday lunchtime. I will be back (but next time, I will be wearing my Gucci!).
It is NOT cheap. Light-ish lunch for two (1 starter, 2 mains, 4 glasses of wine, I desert, I coffee) .. c $200. Worth every penny though... I'd go hungry for days (hours!) afterwards no problem. |

The River Cafe in Brooklyn is really good. We ate there last year. Situated on river with amazing views over Manhattan skyline. Food was amazing, quite formal, jacket required.
Need a booking |

You have to book. Gorgeous restaurant - really really gorgeous.... SATC filmed an episode here!!!
Asia de Cuba has all the white flowing curtains and glamorous feel about it though... |

This is one of my NY favourites -the food is yummy and the service - not too stuffy yet not over-familiar - a perfect balance. It's more diner at lunchtime than dress up for dinner venue! |
