Billed as Asian street food taken from the pushcarts of Ho Chi Minh City, the food is original and unique to New York. The interior is full of golden light and soft colours, you can also have a look into the open kitchen.

I've given Spice Market 3.5. In fairness the food was amazing, some of the nicest Thai food i have ever eaten, but the service...well here's a story for you...
We had booked the Spice Market for a friday night and when booking had been absolutely warned that we could be no more than 15 minutes...
more minutes late or we would lose our table. The restaurant was obviously extremely popular and was absolutely packed when we arrived 10 minutes early (the first and only time i was early for a dinner reservation) We arrived and were told they were very busy and to have a drink at the bar. That suited us just fine so each had a very very nice but extremely strong cocktail. We finished it and enquired again and were told that we 'might' get a table in the next 30 minutes...eventually after much back and forth we got our table.
They took our orders relatively quickly but then the fun began. We waited an age for the wine which was eventually presented with the waiters apologies. The waiter and waitress who served us were lovely, i could not fault them, the problem i think lay in the kitchen staff.
It was so late by the time we ordered (after 11 o clock) that we decided to only have main course, but the waiter assured us we would have time for starters so we ordered something to share.

We had dinner in The Spice market restaurant in The Meatpackers district (which is a really cool area with great interior shops). Spice market is a few doors up from Nobu.
Pastis seems to be the one everyone mentions we couldn't get booking.

I heard how great this place is from a few people and it was diffcult to get a booking but we eventually managed to get one for 10pm on Friday night. When we got there our table wasn't ready so we happily ordered some cocktails from the bar. When our table still wasn't ready by 10.45pm we weren't...
more weren't quite so happy. We eventually sat down and ordered some wine and were advised that everything would run smoothly from that point. We ordered some mussels to share to start and the cod and a Malaysian chicken curry. The mussels were delicious and we also ordered some chicken wings as we were told we had been offered a complimentary starter for the long wait. When these didn't arrive we didn't worry too much but when one main course arrived and another complimentary starter came out instead of the other mains we started to lose patience. Eventually the other mains arrived without the complimentary chicken wings! The food was delicious, I couldn't fault it. Our waitress was great and she gave us a free bottle of wine which helped! The decor is great, the food is great and I would go back but I would say where possible try to go to Spice Market during the week unless you have a couple of hours to spare.

Ok this restaurant is by far my favourite restaurant in NYC (so far!). Its an Asian restaurant, quite "posh" - often spot stars here! We ordered a really nice bottle of white wine, on the waiters recommendation. Our waiter was so friendly and helped us in making choices from the...
more extremely enticing menu! We were told its best to share the food, which we were more than happy to do - you get to try everything then!. For starter we had chicken wings (they were HOT) and mussels which were so yum. Then we ordered a malaysian chicken curry which again was outstanding and then also the cod, which was again fab. I honestly cant fault this place, its well worth a visit, even if it is a tad more expensive than your average Asian restaurant. Then though we were pretty stuffed by the time it was desert, we ordered it anyway. Again we asked for a recommendation. So we went for the strange and curious desert called Thai Jewels on crushed coconut ice. You can also come here and just have some drinks in the bar, they have lovely cocktails worth trying.

Fantastic restaurant in the meat packing district in New York. Cuisine is Asian mix. The decor of this restaurant alone makes it worth a visit, but thankfully the food is amazing and the staff couldn't be friendlier, they are happy to recommend a dish. The location is also great for heading on...
