Great location, but pretty grim half way house for reprobates. Also added tax on when we arrived. Pay more and stay somewhere better for your health. Even for 3 blokes on a stag do this was poor.

Wonderful Stay at this charming budget hotel. Great Location, just around the corner of Fifth Ave, Empire State Building and the subway. Nice Breakfast Facility only a few steps to go (Café 28). The staff- specially night shift workers- are AMAZING. They did their best to find me an apartment in Manhattan. Latham rocks. Ciao!

Awesome value for money, excellent location and very friendly staff. Don't let the fact half the building is a women's refuge put you off. The hotel side is kept seperate, everyone in the refuge side is very friendly anyway. Much better than expected. No its not the Ritz, and yes its old and a bit shabby,butwe chose the Latham for its good price and location. Our family of mum, dad and 3 adult children were very happy and would stay at the Lathem again.

We had a group of 12 people stay overnight. The hotel was in an amazing location, right in the middle of everything. The front desk staff was helpful however some of the other staff members were a bit rude. All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone.

Rooms are very tiny. But you cant expect something else in New York. Room was cleaned every day and towels were changed. Beds make lots of noise when you turn from one side to other. Weather was quite hot outside so condition didnt make it cool enough.

Friendly staff, good location. My room on the 5th floor was facing the yard, narrow walls, no view, dark. Thick carpet, nothing for allergic. Quiet, but some noise from the corridor. Old, but charmy somehow. Good value after all. Would reccomand it. The room-door wasn't possible to lock properly,...

Freezing cold!!! dont put heating on until temp outside falls low enough, think this must be around -30. also had large hole in wall left from an old aircon system, which connected striaght to the outside...more cold! quite cramped and ditry but good location and cheapishbeare they add...

Well....in NYC you cannot complain too much...It's very old and the doors do not lock well so I was concerned about the security...but it's clean and the location is great

although it was not such an issue the radiators made some noise one day and licked. maybe they need regulation cause the room was too hot and the window was blocked.

As other people have commented, there are a few single mothers living in the hotel still, but I have to say they (and their children) were always very polite and friendly to us, and this was no issue at all. If I were to return, I would make sure I booked an en-suite as waiting for the communal bathroom can be quite frustrating in the morning! Overall a pleasant stay, and you can't beat the location or helpfulness of the staff for the price.close

The location of this hotel is super, just off 5th Avenue. Rooms are basic but hotels are so expensive in NYC that I would choose a budget hotel based on its location and then save the rest of your budget for going out and about and shopping.

Subway lines are just two blocks away on both sides and we could very easily and quickly reach all the sites and neighbourhoods in NYC that we wanted to check out.
