The room was very little, without wardrobe, and noisy because of the air conditions in the courtyard. but for this price, it was ok.

Great Location right next to Union Square. The hotel was very clean, I had room service every day and also the shared bathroom was always clean and available. Good value for money, I would come back if I was staying in New York.

Nice staff, but had a very strong pouporri smell to the room. I personally suggest they do not put any deoderizer because many people are allergic to it. Other than that, it was a nice area and friendly staff, well worth the price.

Really good hotel. Very clean and very good service. For the price and location, its very good value for money. Great accessibility to subways and transport and not bad walking distance to major tourist attractions. Will definately come back when visiting this city again.

If you're interested in architecture you'll love the old wood carvings and chandeliers inside and neo-gothic designs outside. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The staff is friendly. There were lots of internationals and families staying there. My only complaints were that the elevator is a bit slow (it's an old building so what can you expect) and there is a 14% tax charge added to your bill. Overall, I felt very safe at hotel 17 and would love to stay there again.close

Excellent value for money, especially in New York. Great location, but not too noisy. Not far from the Village Pourhouse, which was the best pub or club I visited in the US.

Good accomadation at a reasonable price. Never a problem with bathrooms, wich where always kept clean. Note that there's a 14% tax, in addition to the price. It says on the bottom of this page, but I didn't notice it until I had to pay. But still allover a nice experience.

In a nice residential area just out of the East Village, a pleasant hotel. For New York reasonable rates. Only complaint, they didn't answer an email I sent to them.

great location: 3 blocks from Union Square, safe area. Hotel with a lot of character and super clean, not like regular youth hostelling! Definetly the best choice for a stay in New York.

place is very basic for the cost of it, rooms a little small as are beds, but overall nice place, location is useful. think you could do better possibly but not a bad option by any means. mike on front desk was very friendly and very funny at times

Great place to stay. Really nice and helpful staff. The location is pretty good, only a few blocks from Union Square. The rooms were a nice size and quite clean. They also let you leave your bags in a very secure place for the day if you need to. I would definitely stay here again!

single private, a tiny room but clean and secure, they even got a locker! <5 min walk to the subway (union square), a little far but try to walk to the 5th Av.

Great little hotel. Shared bathroom was no problem - never had to wait for it to be free. If it was occupied just used a different floor. Great location. Fantastic value for the price.

Stayed here for a week with my gorgeous girlfriend, had a great time. Very nice hotel, big room, newly renovated, 4 bathrooms on the floor we stayed on were always clean, never had to wait, very close to good nightlife, very safe area, highly recommended!!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Hotel had lots of character, especially the lift! It was great to have a discount Hotel with a TV in every room, although could have benefited from a kettle and computers with internet access, but over all a great place to stay.
