Very pleasent place to stay. The only problem was the banging sound of the radiator during the night. However, I would recommend it, and definately stay there again sometime in the future.

It's New York, a YMCA is cheap and it's in a perfect location. 10-15 minutes walk to Grand Central and Times Square. Have actually been here twice and wouldn't hesitate again. It has a gym, pool, and cafeteria all at very reasonable price because it is also a student hall of residence.

Front desk people should NOT be discussing politics in front of guests. It is totally unprofessional and no one wants to hear their personal opinions. Staff are not particularly friendly. As a white female, I was ignored service by several of the black male staff members. I would not stay here...

It's much better if more shower can be provided on each floor. Further, the water is not hot enough in cold weather. For the staffs there, I think they are nice and helpful.

This was my third time staying at Vanderbilt. As always it was a wonderful stay! I love that you can use the gym for free, and toilets and showers are always clean. And to get new fresh towels every day is a big plus.

A good trade-off between price and room, and if it is taken into account that the hostel is in central Manhattan, the choice is very convenient!

This place had zero character. The room was akin to a prison cell in its layout. Weirdly the girls' bathrooms required a pin code to enter. It kinda got me thinking about why this was the case and I worried about my safety a little when heading out for the bathroom! Stay somewhere else!!

Warmer, friendlier lighting than a ceiling florescent fixture would go a long way toward making these admittedly Spartan rooms a bit more warm and fuzzy.

If you just want a place to sleep while you are in New York this is hard to beat. It is right near Grand Central station and within walking distance to Times Square. The rooms are adequate with fridge and TV. The place is quiet, never had to wait for a toilet or bathroom. Full use of gym too....
