Urban Oasis, New York

5 W 31st Street, New York City, New York (See it on map)

Description of Urban Oasis

In the heart of Manhattan we created a calm, cozy and intimate atmosphere where after a tiring day of traveling or sightseeing you can relax and really feel at home. Most of our rooms are spacious by New York standards and have huge loft-style windows looking onto the Empire State Building (twin rooms) or historic buildings of 5th Avenue and 31st Street (double rooms). However, if you are on a tight budget, and do not care about having a view, we also offer smaller rooms with no views for a cheaper price (economy and budget double rooms). See detailed rooms description below. To view more pictures about Urban Oasis go to: http://picasaweb.google.com/urbanoasis.hostel/UrbanOasis?feat=directlink Superbly located on 31st street at 5th Avenue in the center of Manhattan, the hostel is close to all public transportation (trains 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, A, C, E, N, R, Q, W; buses M2, M3, M6, M7), right in the middle of exquisite New York shopping, and within walking distance to many of the sights. Our immediate neighborhood is full of shops, cheap eateries, restaurants, cafes, and you'll have easy access to the best nightlife spots as well. Urban Oasis is a small and homely hostel with a limited number of rooms and guests so if you want a quiet place, personal attention and good accommodation at a reasonable price, book with us. PLEASE NOTE: as we don't have a traditional 24 hour front desk, please INFORM US ABOUT YOUR ARRIVAL TIME. You must have a reservation booked through our booking website agents, no walk-ins. We do not accept kids under the age of 16. Valid photo ID required upon check in. Luggage storage: 10am-10pm Check-in to room: 2pm-12am midnight Check out of room: by 11am Your outstanding balance is due upon arrival. Room types: Double rooms: spacious with king-size (198 x 203 cm) bed and huge loft-style window looking onto the historic buildings of 31st Street/5th Avenue. (Superior Double Bed Private) Twin rooms: spacious with huge loft-style window and view to the Empire State Building. Two separate single beds. (Superior Twin Private) Economy double room: small but cute and bright room with full size (137 x 190 cm) bed. Good choice if you don't care about size and view and want to save a couple of bucks. Because of the bed size, it is best for couples. (Standard Double Bed Private) Budget double room: this room is dark (doesn't have a window) that is why it is so cheap! Comes with a full size (137 x 190 cm) bed and an remote control fan. Good choice if you don't plan to stay too much in your room, want to save a lot on accommodation but want a clean and nice space. Because of the bed size, it is best for couples. (Basic Double Bed Private) Strong tower fans for cooling air in every room.

With a better location, better room and higher standard than some hotels than some hotels I've stayed in, this place is the bees knees. Sets the standard for all hostels.

The staff is great and the rooms are nice. But, the hotel is on a very sketchy street ( very dirty and few services around). The building is also very old and dirty.

The manager Szilvia was very personable and helpful. The room was spacious for New York with high loft ceilings and the bathrooms were very clean. Most of the other guests were pleasant and friendly and the common area was accessible and comfortable.

This hostel was awesome! Really good location and services (you have the internet and computers if you need to plan your trip online). Our room and bed were really big and the price was affordable for New York (and you can even have a smaller one for around 50 $). We really recommend it.
