The hostel is not too far a walk (or subway ride) from some of Harlem's main attractions. The common room has two large plasma TVs with cable. Cleaniess was excellent.Overall, I would recommend this hostel for the price - excellent value for NYC at $US19 per night - and handiness to the subway.close

Perhaps from a guy's perspective yes, but not from a girl on her own. Overall the hostel itself was very clean and well looked after, and most of the staff were good to deal with. Only disappointment was that breakfast was supposed to be served until 9 am but I missed out a couple of mornings as everything was gone before 8 am, and I got stuck waiting in line for the bathroom behind the other girls in the dorm which made me arrive after 8 am another morning. I think they either need to make sure they have the food to last until 9 am or advertise brekky is until 8 am.close

This might be the most impressive hostel I've ever stayed in. The staff were friendly, the place was perfectly clean, and the rooms were nicely remodeled. It's in Harlem, which isn't the greatest location, but Manhattan is only 20 minutes away on the train. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

The security was great! Slept great at night. Very clean dorm and bathroom. I think the bathroom was cleaned everyday. If not, it should be while sharing with a lot of girls. This is one of the best hostels I have stayed in, I think it is luxury apartments that couldnt sell so everything is great quality and new, only complaint is no free breakfast but they have a cafe and it was lacking a backpacking type atmosphere but all US hostels seem to have no social...

It's a nice, new, clean hostel, with lot's of facilities, but a bit without "charakter". We stayed a week in a double room, with shared bathroom, which was kept very clean. Although our room has never been cleaned and we had to last the full week with one towel. Breakfast was nice, but...

This is a very good hostel! It is clean, nice and people are very keen. Breakfast was not included but they agreed on refunding 10% of the fare. Would definitely stay here again!! Highly recommended.

This is a fantastic hostel. Extremely clean, located in an interesting part of New York. The staff were really helpful and always friendly (especially the guy in the cafe!) I would stay here next time in New York.

It's a wonderful place, we really enjoyed our stay there, the only downside was the location...a slightly intimidating, albeit charming, community of people and dark corners. 15-11-8

This is a very nice/new and well laid out hostel. The 16 bed male dorm is actually split up into 4+ rooms so it is very good value. The staff were very friendly. My only problem was in my dorm room there were no lockers. The staff did hold onto my bag for me but lockers would have been easier.

All in all an excellent hostel. The rooms were clean and new. The shower was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only criticism i have is that they advertise they have a washer/dryer and that is not the case

I enjoyed the hostel and felt very safe there. It is a little far from downtown though if people are really concerned about that. I also found the staff to be quite hospitable and the hot water situation has definitely been fixed ! :)

In a single word - EXCELLENT. Now they have a great guest kitchen and the coffee shop is also probably opened by now as well. There are few hostel that I would rate as good as this one. Want better- try the Hilton or the Sheraton.
