Its close to the subway which makes it close to everything. the area is safe enough if you are careful.

Our room keys kept malfunctioning, and we could get them changed at the reception but nobody seemed to care that they kept breaking. The bathrooms are in a serious need of a renovation.

we booked in a 6 bed female dorm for two people and we told we would have to sleep in seprate rooms or go to a ten bed dorm.... been round the world and this is the first time that has ever happened to us!

ok bathrooms need a bit of updating however they are not as bad as other people are making out... they serve there purpose and i have seen worse to be honest. the serurity is crazy uptight you have to carry your reciept with you and show it as well as your key to get back in. most other hostels... more ok bathrooms need a bit of updating however they are not as bad as other people are making out... they serve there purpose and i have seen worse to be honest. the serurity is crazy uptight you have to carry your reciept with you and show it as well as your key to get back in. most other hostels have a braclet or band you show not an A4 sheet.. its so silly. the hostel is right near the metro which is great and they plan events and nights out which is good. staff are mostly nice however most just need to become happy with there job. we stayed in a six bed dorm which was pretty small however on the second night we had a visit from a mouse and i moved to a different 6 bed which was alot bigger. i reported the mouse and they blocked the hole and we never saw him again. all in all i would go back here and stay the kitchen was fab and when the mouse left i enjoyed my stay.close

This is Hostel is really big but overall it is ok and I enjoyed my stay. The bathrooms are ok. They are not beautifull but they are clean.

However in every other wasy the facilities and staff were great and I certainly recommend this hostel to anyone who is coming to NY.close

This is a very good hostel, although I had some problems every night I stayed here. But apparently that just happened to me. Seems like they try to clean and change the bed linen, no matter if you finished your stay or no. So when someone new arrives in the room, they get your bed! Seems like they try to clean and change the bed linen, no matter if you finished your stay or no. So when someone new arrives in the room, they get your bed! Thats not the problem, the bad thing is that 2 nights when i got back after the night life, like 4 o'clock I had to go search the security to get clean linen, cause someone was i my bed... And the other night i stayed, someone woke me up telling me i was in his bed... That kind took me out of seriousness. Aside from all this text, they always have things to do at night, like vip lists (for pacha and such), and good staff..close

didn't like this place. too big for my liking, everyone kept to themselves and generally not very friendly. if you're travelling by yourself probably not the best place to stay. can see why other people might like this place though.

The bathroom sometimes are clean but sometimes is not clean. The staff are neither friendly nor polite, and rooms with 10/12 people is a mess.

The baths could be better! The rooms are ok, the kitchen is outstanding. In general is ok. The price is fair, but just when we made the reservation over the internet.

The place is a haunt for school kids on school trips, i.e. 13yr olds. This ruins the atmosphere of the place. The location is very bad, considering some other hostels locations. The hostel itself may be secure, but the surounding neighbourhood less so. It is generally clean.

The sheets and blankets were never changed from the night before we came. We asked the desk to get housekeeping to come fix that and they never came. Then when they did come the next day they didn't even change the sheets and blanket, just refolded it (I was in the room watching them). THAT IS...

Additional outlets would be nice. 8 Beds with only 4 outlets became an issue a few times. I use a Cpap and I need it to sleep.

All around a nice hostel! Men's bathrooms were a bit dirty, but I didn't spend much time in them aside from required daily grooming! I would surely stay there again while visiting Manhattan!!!

New York is expensive and this hostel is really cheap for the location. However it has less quality and poor beds compared to other Hostelling International hostels. There are plenty of opportunities to make new friends, and they even let me stay one extra night for free!!

Ok hostel. Bathrooms really need to be renovated soon. Room was nice, big lockers. Little bit noisy though, on the street side of the building.

Poor location. near Harlem. Not very private beause the doorms are of 12 people, and the bathroms are for many door rooms! at night it will take you quite long to get back to the hostel with the subway. they do try to make a lot of activities though wich kinda make up for the downsides of it.
