Bunks are tiny so if you are over about 5'5 expect your feet to hang off the edge! Security was poor, the rooms don't lock and I went in after a shower one morning to find someone hanging around over our bags, wanting to open the window, but it made us very uncomfortable. Bathrooms and toilets very exposed, as they are in the same area as the kitchen.close

Demanded that I pay for all the nights up front in cash, before I can even see the room. Didn't like the sound of that and the pressure that if I didn't pay immediately my room would be given away, as it was a busy time. Horrible place, horrible people...so I luckily managed to book a room in the Hostel International (which is superb by the way!), although unfortunately couldn't start until the next day. Couldn't use the room (yes singular, with 14 people in it) as they are closed for 5 hours in the day for 'cleaning', although the dust, disgustingness and sheer grubiness of the place suggests otherwise. I Sampled the 'breakfast' -frozen bread you can toast and jelly! Have stayed in around 5 hostels before and never had such an unwelcoming and awful experience! Oh, I was also the only native english speaker-so if you're not fluent in other European languages...good luck! You can do a LOT better for your money elsewhere in New York. my advice- pass on this one! :)close

No lockers but the staff is always around and all the guests were cool so I feel safe leaving my stuff out. Kitchen has free milk/cereal in the morning and is a great place to meet other people. Deli/convenience store next door is open 24/7 and McDonalds across the street. Only complaint is sinks in bathroom are tiny and no public computer.close

I cancelled my reservation when I saw the place in person. It was in a sketchy part of town, and was a run down low income hotel with bars on the windows. There were several "junkies" loitering right outside the front door. About face!

Not very spacious or well ventilated. Toilets were new and clean. Beds small, and the individual lamps didn't work. Good location, right next to the subway and loads of places to go out nearby.

The bunk beds were REALLY hard and uncomfortable. I also did not like how you had to walk through dorm rooms to get to other rooms. The staff was very friendly and the location was great! There needs to be some sort of locker systems, I felt I needed to take my backpack everywhere.

Good location with easy to find. Though hostel is next to main street it has never been too loud. Hostel was quite clean and well kept by the staff. Great kitchen and common room. Enjoyed my stay.

Roberto and Rafael are very friendly and nice guys. In order to let the things clear, the room is not for 8 but for 12 people and serves also as an aisle to the people going/coming to/from the room at the back. The Subway station is just few steps out of the door... Excellent.
