To say New Delhi is an assault on the senses is an understatement. Some things that come to the top of my mind are bustling, noisy, polluted, cow friendly, smelly, poverty stricken, divide between the classes, great roadside snacks, begging and hungry children, tuk-tuks driving recklessly around, cheap places to sleep. |

My view is tainted by the horrible hostel I stayed in but Dehli was very hot and the people not very friendly. The sights were good though and of course there is the Taj Mahal! |

Delhi aint the most exciting places in India and while good to spend a few (menaing 3 or less) days there, its boring and hectic to spend any more time here.
Must see/dos in Delhi:
- Goto Old Delhi and visit market and red fort
- goto lotus gardens, surprisingly calm and beutiful and green, sthg you dont often see in delhi
- take pictures or food stalls, they're real scarey.....
- jump onto a rickshaw and hope you're still intact at the end of the ride (be sure to bargain, they'll charge you extra just cos ur a tourist)
- watch a hindi movie (there's some nice cinemas, particularly the PVC near hotel "The Grand"). they have reclining seats to cater fo rthe 2.5hrs+ movies
- catch the Metro, its new and surprisingly clean (though questionable who long it will be kept that way) though limited network. |

Insane and tiring but very rewarding Try and make it to the Delhi gate government area - amazing buildings with monkeys standing guard outside - the area is so perfectly planned and grand that its surreal. |

New Delhi is a crazy place and if you arrive here from a plane, get out as soon as possible. MAYBE come back if you have time and after you are more acclimated to the culture and the shock of it. |

I've been to many different places around the world but never experienced anything like this. It is tru that you either hate it or love it. For me it definitely leans on the negative as the people were the hardest to deal with. It is ahrd to enjoy yourself when people are trying to screw you at every single moment. All everyone cares about is how much money they can get out of you. Makes For a very tiring experience when you are literally fighting people of with a stick. |

Lots of hassle and very hot at this time of year (August). Things would be cheap and good value for money if you didnt have to argue about everything! Seems like every one is trying to rip you off and we couldnt even relax in our relatively expensive hotel |

We really hated Delhi. It ranks as my second least favourite city on earth after almost a year of travelling. You cannot believe anybody, nothing is straightforward & everyone tries to rip you off since you are a tourist. Many people are rude and the attractions are really nothing special. |

If your trip in India begins in Delhi, dont be put off by the overwhelming pollution and poverty in certain area. Its easy to get a cheap meal and decent accommodation here but a couple of tombs and monuments aside, its not worth visiting for more than two days. |

New Delhi was dirty and noisy, and the airport the worst we have experienced on our travels. The sightseeing of the Golden triangle was teriffic, car and driver good. |

Chaos, is the only word which springs to mind when thinking of Delhi. Nothing but chaos, traffic, people, shops, sightseeing.....everything is chaotic. Be prepared to be blown away! |

Once we overcame the culture shock Delhi was an interesting place to stay. It is chaotic and you have to be on guard all the time as people try to con you got of money constantly. We had an experience not to be forgotten! |

Delhi is terrible - the worst place I have ever had the misfortune to be - I'm just grateful it was for only two nights!! And the worst part wasn't even the place, but the people - they made a bad place insufferable - they assaulted our sense of personal space from the second we stepped out of the door to the second we got back - from taxis folowing you fro 30 minutes asking every few seconds if you wanted a taxi, and then accusing you of being rude when you finally break and start shouting at them, after all efforts of polite rebuttal have been ignored, to street sellers, to just people coming up to you and expecting you to be al friendly and conversational, and after explaining that you are very tired, and need some peace, thanks, they still just keep talking!!! We felt like it was hell on Earth, and left in the worst, most flea bitten mood imaginable. I hate it. |

Delhi is a great city...heaps to do...make sure you get the best deals when shopping, remember that there will be another 300 shops with what you want...don't let anyone take you to special shops....and stay near main bazaar.....it's safe and has a great atmosphere! |

Only need 1 -2 days in Delhi to get a sense of the city. Visit mosque, Ghandi Museum, Red Fort, Connaught place and get out... |

I thought it was an amazing city. It was my first time in India, although staying in Pahar Ganj was a bit of a chock to the system and when we came back to Delhi we stayed in Sunder Naga, which was much calmer. But still, I am glad we stayed in Pahar Ganj and saw different sides of the city. |

Expect to be tired and stay cool no matter what (touts, traffic, cowshit...)
Second time around, it'll feel like home... |

a chaotic city and a bit of a eye opener. there are some great sites in the city and some good places to eat out but its very expensive compared to other parts of India. a couple of days at the most should be enough here. |

The Main Bazaar is great for shopping - very good value for money. |

I would not recommend staying here. It is about 45 minutes outside of the city by autorickshaw. The family is nice, but will try to book you on expensive tours... dont be fooled! It is overpriced (800 rupee a night for single) for being so far away from the city center everything. Don\'t stay here unless that lower the price for you. Also, none of the rickshaw drivers could ever find the place... i had to have the family draw a map for all my drivers. |

I wouldn\'t stay here again if you paid me! We were made pay ADDITIONAL taxes that weren\'t included in the hostelworld price(how convenient!), were told that they actually had no rooms for us and put us in another hotel instead! Also, we told them we would have an early arrival and they said that they woudn\'t charge us for checking in early but of course they had no copy of the email they sent. I really wouldnt stay here again! |
