Bring ear-plugs.The travel agency tied into the hotel will try to rope you into a tour and if you change your mind and want to return the tour they will become irate. They claim to help you avoid "touts" but since nothing on the bill including the hotel stays and train tickets are itemized by cost, how do you know they aren't overcharging? They'll probably also take you to restaurants and souvenir shops where the drivers get commision. It's best just to go to irctc.com and book you train tickets. You can do this up to 4 hours before the train leaves but the availability might be low.close

In the future I would recommend dealing with someone else though it is extremely hard to find someone honest anywhere in India it seems. We paid $575 for a 14 day tour of Rajasthan with a car and driver without A/C (HE TOLD US IT WAS NOT NECESSARY AS IT WAS COOL BUT IT WAS LIKE A 100 DEGREES OUT THERE!!!). Overall I enjoyed my stay However, the annoying thing about the hotel was the hard sell for tours, I was only half way through checking in and filling in the book before the owner was already trying to sell me a 3 day government driver tour for $350. I was very tired after traveling all day and not in the mood for it, all I really wanted was to have a hot shower and go to bed. However he would not take no for an answer, therefore I agreed he could call me at 8:30am and I would give him an answer then, which would be 'no' - we then moved on to a day tour around the city for the next day which I managed to refuse (although I am sure it was very good value etc...) Before I managed to get to breakfast the next morning a lady in recpt. was trying to sell me a sight seeing tour of Agra. Which is not what you need first thing in the morning. Also they do use the fact that they are recommended by the lonely planet, every 20 secs. when trying to sell you tours - I have the Lonely Planet Guide which describes the hotel as "mostly unremarkable" which is not the quote they use at the hotel. Please do not take my comments the wrong way, overall I enjoyed my stay, I am not sure if the tours were good value for money or not as I did not take any and made other arrangements, it was more the badgering that irritated me.close

They need to look at improving room as well as hallways (which they were doing when I arrived, so I had paint fumes in my room as well as the noise). When I did upgrade my room it was better, though the Air conditioning was ancient and really didn't blow that much cold air. You also had to ask for your room to be cleaned, the tables never were though and were thick with dust. There were no bed sheets, only a blanket. Some members of staff were nice, eg; the gentleman who came around at night to check how things were was very nice, the restaurant staff were nice, and one gentleman on reception. The rest of the reception staff were quite aloof, no sense of humour. The money changer was particularly rude, when I tried to explain to him that they had the amounts back to front on their exchange board, he wouldn't listen to my explanation and didn't look me in the eye once. He was an arsehole in fact. One of the ladies was quite pushy when it came to booking tours, in my opinion if you say "no, I don't want to book a tour", then she should accept that. I had to tell her 3 times, once she came up to me when I was having food. The hotel was also in a noisy location, especially as my room had sliding windows made of plastic, in the middle of the hotel, so I could hear a pin drop. Also the internet is quite good but none of the computers have a USB Port. There was an internet cafe down the road which had a USB Port and was cheaper. The telephone meter does not work, so you cannot see how much the call is costing you. I also got "Delhi Belly" from my last meal in their restaurant, and was ill on both my flights and since, to Vietnam. All in all, I wouldn't recomment this hotel.close
