Amazing hostel, owners are amazing, so helpful, really cozy, great location, about 5/10 mins to main shops but loads of stuff you need really close by. Met some cool people here too and Nagasaki is lovely. Do the boat trip to Iojima and do an onsen.

The next morning, the owner(?) confronted us to demand to apologize. He said we were rude and threatening. Ha? He was not even there. He was there just to make money. The room was filthy and smelly. If he has time to argue with clients, go clean the room and bathrooms. The info at the train station has more places.close

The only negative thing was that the bath tub may not have been cleaned thoroughly.close

We have been travelling through Japan for 3 weeks and have had our share of hostels. Akari is defenitely the friendliest place we stayed at. The owners are very friendly and make you feel at home instantly. We enjoyed the octopus ball party with their japanese friend a lot.

A fantastic hostel, a short walk from the JR station with very welcoming staff fluent in English. All use of kitchen facilities and multiple internet. Very close to the main sights of Temple Street. Maybe the best hostel of our trip!

Overall I enjoyed my stay - the owners were great and the location & Nagasaki are amazing. The only slight thing to let it down was the cleanliness of the bathroom which I thought could be greatly improved. Other than that, best wishes to the owners with their venture!

I had a great stay. The hostel is in a nice building in a great spot for sightseeing. It has a very comfortable common room where it's easy to meet other travelers. The owners are funloving and very kind and helpful. I'd certainly recommend it.

Pleasant hostel with free internet a good perk (not always offered in Japan). Lack of flexibility over check-in times frustrating. Staff were annoyed that I`d locked my bag up to one of the doors, but there was nowhere else to put it.

I can't believe that the hotel didn't even provide soap and towel. Well, no matter how high the cost of living in Japan, but I believe a soap won't cost that much until the state that the hotel can't provide it. For me, is the first time I am frustrated with a hotel.
