Altogether over 200,000 prisoners from more than 30 countries were housed in Dachau of which nearly one-third were Jews. Almost 30,000 prisoners were killed here, and many others lost their lives due to other causes while at the camp. What could I say about it? Unbelievably terrible things happened there, but I think it worth visiting. After seeing this painful evidence of brutality somehow I felt a bit different; when thinking over what those innocent people went through, you look at the photos and read the stories, well different thinhgs will start to matter… The camp is very easy to reach, takes about 1, 1.5 hours from Munich. The best is to take the S-Bahn number 2 to Dachau, just after exiting the station you will see the bus stop where number 724 and 726 depart from, they take you to the entrance of the camp and the fare is €1.10 per person one way. There is no entrance fee to the camp, you can buy brochures in several languages for €0.50 or you can hire an Audio Guide for about € 3. The Memorial Site is open on all days except for Mondays, between 9 am and 5 pm.close
