This is an undiscover pub with regard to tourists and as a result has the perfect traditional Hofbräuhaus atmosphere. The interior is rustic and simple and the food is as you would expect good and cheap.

I have never been confronted with such rude, dismissive and down right aggressive staff in my life. This place is a tourist trap and the staff should be used to dealing with tourists. After circling the place for about half an hour to find a table we were were blanked by four sour faced...
more waitresses for over half an hour.
Living in London, I understand that dealing with tourists can be tiring. Therefore I am polite and patient when in another country, particularly if I dont speak the language. So when I approached a staff member after having waited patiently for so long I did not expect to be screamed at. Literally screamed at.
I think the problem was the 3 staff who blanked us for over half an hour were not the particular waiters for our table. She was. The fact that none of the staff had the courtesy to tell us and her response was to scream was just astounding.
Unsurprisingly we left. Luckily we spent 4 days in Munich and met some really lovely people - if our only experience had been of this place I would have quite the wrong impression of Munich and its residents.
Avoid at all costs, unless of course you enjoy being screamed, or ignored, by sour faced miserable staff.

I've been to a few beer halls in Munich but this one is by far the best. As it's a few stops away from the main train station on the tram, it doesn't get too many tourists like the Hofbräuhaus. And the beer?! Oh the beer! It's something else.

The Augustiner Brauhaus is a must to visit! It can be found in 19 Landsberger Street, this is the oldest brewery in Munich, more than 670 years old. The “restaurant” itself looks like a huge canteen with a lot of long tables and benches and there are always a lot of people and noise. The...
more The waiters and waitresses wear traditional Bavarian clothes (ladies: dirndl, gents: lederhosen) and they carry 6-7 beer mugs at a time (half a litre each!). The atmosphere is very-very good! The food is brilliant, you have to try the traditional German Sausage (Bratwurst) with sour cabbage and pretzels, while waiting for the food you can try the Augustiner Beers, coming from old beer-kegs. My favourite is the Weissbeer and second favourite is called Edelstoff.
We were really lucky with finding two free seats: we got to sit next to two German guys and they were the friendliest people I have ever met on a holiday! We were chatting and drinking beer for about five hours, they spotted us all the most interesting and worth-visiting places, they even marked them on a map…they really made our weekend! So if you have a chance try to have a drink with locals in a huge "brewery"!!
