This place was great for value and Location. We had a little trouble finding it. I would recomend they mention it's close to the Mont-Royal Metro stop. The room was great and the staff was nice.

I carry a lot of baggage, as I have food allergies and have to travel with my food, so this could have meant that I would simply be turned away at the door. Fortunately, I had a friend nearby who rescued me, but my problems were only starting. I don't have a driver's licence, so, in spite of my reservation through hostel world and the possession of a credit card in the same name, a student card and a health card, they would not rent me a room. Nothing would suffice but a passport, which, since I was travelling within my own country, I did not think to pack. Once again my friend rescued me, and registered the room in his name. Unfortunately, I believe I have lost my deposit in all of this, as I ended up having to pay the full rate for the room--more nuisance. Then the room looked clean enough, but I suspect the bed was either full of old cigarette smoke or mold (both of which I am very allergic to). I ended up choking and gasping through my first night, completely unable to sleep. The staff were good. They moved me to a much nicer room and this one was fine, but I have to say that the overall ambience of the hotel is rather shabby and although everything seems clean enough, it is definitely run down. It would be good for students, perhaps or people who are less allergic to everything than I am--also, you need to be physically fit to deal with the stairs and your own luggage.close

Generally abit seedy although the staff we generally good. We rejected the room they first gave us as it was in the basement and had no windows... they moved us to another room which they said was 20 dollars a night more but didn't charge us extra which was nice, but I didn't like that room eaither but we stayed anyway. The hotel was a good walk from the main areas of Montreal, and from the subway stations, although the bus service was |Ok. Was an excellent Mexican restaurant across the road and a good place for breakfast three doors down. No I wouldn't stay again. The ordinary hostels we stayed at in Toronto and Quebec were much better, even though technically they were more basic/communal. they really need to brighten this place up, had the feel of a very damp and damk rent-by-the-hour hotel. This was the only place on my six week Canada trip i wouldn't stay at again and was one of the more expensive places.close

Helpful staff. Kitchen needs to have more cooking utensils and the oven needs fixing. Close to public transport easy to find.

The location wasn't too bad for what I needed, but most of the attractions are a bit off - still can get there though. The shower never ran out of hot water and had plenty of pressure (a good shower can't be underestimated) and after a warm-up, the TV reception was ok (6ish channels, one in english.) There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom, so the steam from the shower did set off the fire alarm in the room once, which made life interesting. I did like having control over the heat. My street facing room was a bit noisy at night, but I am rural and I am not sure this would bother most people. There is a nice park near, decent places to eat. The communal kitchen didn't seem to include access to flatware so be open to learning to eat yogurt with chop sticks.close

Not the nicest accommodation I have stayed in, but the price was right. There is literature in the room boasting of renovations and a tasteful decor, but I was hardpressed to see it. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the desk clerk relatively helpful and I suppose those are the...

I think that there should be more consistency as to when the front door is locked and when people have to buzz to get in. Then one night we get back at sometime past 2:00am, we think we need to buzz, and in actual fact the door was open. THe door should not be open at that time in the morning. So my biggest problem was that, and maybe there should be some real security there, not just one of the employees there through the night, who half the time looked like they were sleeping anyways.close
