Overall a good hostel, would stay there again. The shower/wc was small and needs renovating, but the rooms themselves are pretty good.

when I got there, I was a little bit upset cause it was totally different from pictures. They own two hostels and sent me the other one. ( It was auberge de paris) small kitchen, only one pot there, no patio open, no staff. And I had a discount coupon, I couldn't use it cause the old lady staff... more when I got there, I was a little bit upset cause it was totally different from pictures. Beware, when the actual hostel becomes full, they won't turn you away but rather send you to an ajacent hole-in-the-wall type of place. It was infested with what seemed like homeless people and there was a syringe and needle laying around behind the building. We had to cancel and geta refund :(

The sheets were clean but the bathroom floors were pretty gross and the room smelled like mildew. Passable, but not great.

the bathrooms were not very clean at all they need to be cleaned a lot more often. there was never toilet paper in our bathroom. More help from the staff would have been nice, in terms of help with tourism type info. The beds were very comfortable and clean bedding was nice.

Smelly/damp carpeting throughout the bedrooms. Everything -- from hair to clothing to backback -- smelled like mold each day. Gross.

I left my debit card at the desk, which would have been disasterous, as I needed it for my trip to Paris. I'd left a bag & when I came back for it, the clerk gave my card.

I stayed at the Montreal Backpackers three seperate times. It is clean,secure, the staff are helpful. Only 5 minutes walk from the Berri bus station. Could do with some shower mats though

I was only here for one night and it was a pleasant stay. Very clean. Felt a bit more like a hotel than a hostel though.

Our room wasn't clean when we checked in, the sheets weren't changed. There were also still some stuff left from previous guests. The washrooms were not clean and there was no toilet paper at times. The location is okay, but not the best as they claim on their website.

dont be put off by the hotel sign out the front, we had a good time here, its pretty easy to get around montreal from the hostel. excellent kitchen.

The guy on reception was great - lots of suggestions on where to go out! The location is good too - I never used the bus or metro. Not much of an atmosphere, but Montreal is so cool, you can go and find one anywhere! Some people might not like the mixed bathrooms and only a shower...

Great hostel! It was very clean and tidy, close to all the nicest clubs, bars and restaurants. The staff will give you all the information that you may possibly need. Also, a very important part, it's close to the central bas station where you can catch a quick ride to the Airport! I highly...

There are a lot of hidden 'add-ons' ('nickel-dime') approach. Would be nice if they included soap in washrooms to wash your hands and more decent blankets (instead of rags that have no doubt seen a better day). Most incredible stay I ever had in a hostel. The people were fantastic, rooms were clean and modern, and Jeff was great! I was walking distance to some great pubs on St-Denis. The only downside was there was so much snow but thats not the hostels fault.

For being a first time hosteler, I was very impressed with Montreal Backpackers. I was especially impressed with the friendliness of the others staying there and the extreme hospitality displayed to us by management. I would highly recommend this hostel to others.
