It is a good place to stay in a good location. But not having a reception area or common room is a bit inconvenient.

The owner is very friendly and will happily tell you the key things to see and do. It is a small hostel and not the place to go if you want to meet people and hang out in common areas and share stories over a beer. There is also a staircase that you have to contend with to get to your room. I would stay here again no problem and can recommend the hostel.close

I was very impressed with the location and the cleanliness of the room. The management was extremely flexible with a number of requests that I had and I would recommend this location to others. I was happy to have my own room at a reasonable rate with close access to the the city centre....

We had an amazing time, originally we were just going to spend three nights then go to Toronto. We liked it so much we stayed an additional three nights instead of going to Toronto.

No telephone, no common area. Small rooms and outrageous prices for what you get during peak times in Montreal. It was right downtown so if you have never been to Montreal and don't know how to get around this place is great. Other than that I would not stay there again.

Everything is great, except the management is a little shady. We met the guy in the restaurant downstairs and he made us pay in cash. A front desk and staff would have been nice. Otherwise, its clean and the location is great.

Good location, on a busy street, right in the middle of everything. Make note, it is just a ensuite room, there are no other facilities. Very good option for a couple of nights to see Montreal city.

Great place and good value. We really enjoyed our stay here. Our host was great and gave us lots of information which was excellents since this was our first visit to Montreal. Cool with the balcony even though it was freezing when we were there.

I don't know what to do at that time...he spoke to a guy in French to locate where my ring was...so finally I found it...He is so helpful....Thanks again Jave..close

The location is fabulous, right on the main street Rue St. Catherine, and within walking distance of all the main attractions. I found the rooms warm, well ventilated and spacious. The en suite was clean and equipped with a lovely shower. The new mattress was also much appreciated. Lastly the owner, Javed, was exceptionally kind and helpful during my four day stay, in a new city and even introduced me to some of his culinary specialities!close

While the room itself was very bright and cheery and clean, all you are getting is a room. There is no TV, no laundry facilities on site, no cooking facilities fridge etc....There is also no reception, no one on site to let you in if you get locked out, and no one to provide basic cleaning equipment which we needed when one of us got sick in the night, (we had to use our dirty laundry to mop it up) I wouldn't call this a hostel or a hotel, basically it is three rooms being rented out above a restaurant. However I will say that the bed was comfy and the private shower/bathroom was very clean and had great water pressure, (although working the water temperature was like cracking a safe!). Also, the balcony/deck you see in the photos on the website overlooking St Catherine St is only for people staying in rooms 1 and 2 (we were in room 3). All in all our stay at the inn could have been better, but for the most part was quite good. The owner/manager is very friendly and informative and he even let us check out at 5pm at no extra charge!!!!! My apologies if this review seems overly negative, but I am just being honest! We did have a fantastic time in Montreal, there are lots of great restaurants and bars nearby! try the Twins Pub and the Cock and Bull, they are on Catherine near Fort St.close

We had good access to the areas of the city where tourists would be interested in seeing because the Guy-Concordia subway stop was within 5 minutes of the hostel. The hostel itself had no real character or any activity that could be labeled fun. The staff was not full time, we only saw him upon arrival, but he was very helpful and was there to meet us since we had called ahead as requested. The big drawback here is PARKING. We had to park in a garage a short distance away and it cost $26 just for an overnight stay. The room was very comfortable, clean and well maintained with clean ensuite facilities. I highly recommend this hostel as a clean, well situated place to sleep for the budget minded traveler, just leave your car at home!close

The AC didn't really work so it was nearly unbearably hot. Also, it would have been helpful if there was someone there to discuss problems with. After the initial check in process we never saw a member of the staff for the 3 days we were there.
