I loved Chez Jean and it didn't matter I had to share a double bed with someone I didn't know. It was such a friendly hostel and it felt like being in someone's house.

A very nice place, the staff was always helpful and very nice. They speak spanish too if that helps on your trip. I was only a bit weary about security, but other than that it is a very good place.

It is a big house managed by the owners, so it has a family atmosphere. Full of beds all over the place, even at places where you would never think possible! (inside a car, outside the house under a little roof). We stayed for a night, met interesting people and had fun sleeping at an original place. I would say it is perfect for teenagers, but if you want a little privacy go with a different hostel.close

Funky hostel. Too many beds for one hostel, but consider it a bonus if you're a people person. Everyone's pretty much forced into close quarters here but gets along very well. Staff are friendly to boot.

I was apprehensive at first about staying at this hostel and when i first saw it I was still unsure however after my first night, all my worries were put to rest. The hostel is super friendly, laid-back, comfortable and the people are fun! I`d certainly go back.

Excellent location and well maintained. The room we were in had two entrances - the main one which we locked with a padlock (fine) and the second one which led to a common patio and wouldn't lock at all. Also a bit odd how during the night several people kept trying to get into our room. Would...

I had a great time here. This is a one of a kind hostel, but it isn't for everyone. The vibe is very relaxed and everyone is just happy to chill out wherever they like. Free internet came in handy.

One shower per 15 or so people. Spend a little more of your money and stay somewhere else! Not recommended.close

However, I didn't have any problems... but I guess that changes from group to group. It's hard for a staff to keep a full handle on everyone there, but when you seek them out they are polite. The group of people there when I was was very loud, and kept me awake most of the times I tried to sleep... but I suppose that would very. It's quite close to St. Laurent Street, about a mile from St. Catherine's... both aren't bad walks. It's very hot at the hostel if you go in the summer, bring a fan.close

A good place. My first experience in a hostel... a very positive one. The owner and his staff are nice people and very worried about the welfare of the guests. With so many people coming and going they can not do too much about cleanliness and security. I recommend enthusiastically this hostel.
