To support green program, suggest to have garbage separated for non recycle and recycle-able ... I hope Montreal city itself already have the system for recycling.

Staff is really friendly and helpful. If you´re lucky to find a spot you can park your car right in Rue St.-Hubert for free. The kitchen is well equipped and there´s always a cup of coffee ready, the rooms and bathrooms are friendly and clean, Internet access (wireless, too) is actually for free... so what else could you wish for? GREAT PLACE. We strongly recommend it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!close

This meant that the dorm rooms were nice and limited to 4 or 5 guests too, and there were also private rooms. Nice little homely kitchen which was where everyone usually ended up chatting as they sorted out a meal or passed through the house. Although I am english-speaking, the french hosts were more than happy to speak in english and were fantastic people, and were always around and involved with the guests. Although not in the buzzing downtown or old montreal, the location was great - about 30 seconds from a Metro/Tube station, and 3min walk from main Mont Royal street, loaded with awesome coffee cafes and lounges (some with art, some with jazz in the eve). Although the decor / interior was not exactly stylish or 'tidy', it was clean - and it was nice that the guests helped to keep it that way. Perfect for a quiet, cosy, cultural stay.close

I was really shocked as this has never happened to me anywhere in the world and I have stayed in literally hundreds of hostels. As it turned out,I was correct and he apologised to me,BUT I coulkd never recommend this hostel to anyone when it is run by someone who doesnt listen to a fair comment by a client and then abuses and belittles anyone who dares say anything to him.It was really outrageous to say the least. fortunately, there was a nice staff member who looked after me and calmed me down.I wanted to leave immediately. Sorry to send such a negative email but the treatment and attitude I received from the owner was APPALLING!!!close

Someone said to me it's more like a student house than a hostel and I think this is quite accurate. Everyone was very friendly and it felt very homely. However the bathrooms were a pain because there were not enough, you had to go all the way down to the basement and the place seemed very "lived in". The bathrooms were full of shampoo etc, the fridge was completely full of food and our room had a magazine dated from a month earlier so it seemed like maybe they didn't throw things out after people leave. The renovated bathrooms were clean but the others seemed a bit dirty like the upstairs shower. But the beds were comfortable, the breakfast nice, and it's close to the metro station just 3 stops from downtown. Overall good value for money.close
