They use long white tapered candles, which you dont see in many... more This is a seriously impressive Gothic cathedral right in the centre of Milan and surrounded by uber chic designer clothes shops. Inside its pretty standard cathedral fare, lots of extremely impressive statues, obelisks and monuments. They use long white tapered candles, which you dont see in many other places now (for safety reasons i guess) and the overall feeling was one of an eerie almost reverent silence. The outside however is really impressive, you can go right onto the roof and climb amongst the many spires. The detail on the outside is simply unbelievable and its hard to imagine how long it must have taken to create the entire building.close

Milan's Duomo is arguably one of Italy's most beautiful buildings. The view from the top is amazing also. Unfortunately it was covered in scaffolding when I was there but it's still worth climbing to the top. Not to be missed.

This amazing building can be seen from many points in milan. You can climb to the top of it where you get an amazing view of the whole city. When i last visited Milan there was scaffolding on the outside of the building but it still looked spectacular. You can't visit Milan and not go see the... more This amazing building can be seen from many points in milan. You can climb to the top of it where you get an amazing view of the whole city. When i last visited Milan there was scaffolding on the outside of the building but it still looked spectacular. You can't visit Milan and not go see the Duomo. This is the biggest and greatest late gothic architecture in Italy.close
