This are is walkable from the Duomo and has the best choide of restaurants, bars and nightlife. In true milanese style the locals parade the cobblestoned streets. A great place to people watch is bar brera, located in the main section of the brera on a corner it offers a super view, the drinks are pricey but that is to be expected in milan. Go for apertivo hour and get some nibbles brought to your table.close

   Apparently this is the place where Milans 'Alternative Intellectual Students' hang out...which honestly makes it sound really off putting! We came across this bar by chance after getting caught in a heavy downpour of rain...as it turns out it was a great night! Downstairs there was live band... more Apparently this is the place where Milans 'Alternative Intellectual Students' hang out...which honestly makes it sound really off putting! We came across this bar by chance after getting caught in a heavy downpour of rain...as it turns out it was a great night! Downstairs there was live band playing slow emo-type music, its was dark and quite musty, and i almost expected people to click their fingers at the end of each song..it was also really, really busy and we couldnt get a seat downstairs. Venturing upstairs we found a jazz bar! Complete with leather couches and candles on the table..it was amazing! My friends had never heard live jazz previously and they were soon converted..it was upbeat and fun and we soon met and started chatting to loads of people. the cocktails were cheap and SUPER Strong! All in all the perfect receipe for a chilled night out..and its open till 3am every night.close

   We went to Loolapaloosa on a tuesday night, it was about 11.30pm and we were met by a (not very nice) bouncer on the door who, without any greeting whatsoever informed us it was "Minimum 10 euro - 1 drink". We asked to at least be allowed to look in the door first and he rather ungraciously... more We went to Loolapaloosa on a tuesday night, it was about 11.30pm and we were met by a (not very nice) bouncer on the door who, without any greeting whatsoever informed us it was "Minimum 10 euro - 1 drink". We asked to at least be allowed to look in the door first and he rather ungraciously allowed us a look. The place was empty save for a group of about 5 people at one end swigging champagne. We politely declined the mans offer and walked away. An hour later we were about to hop into a taxi and go to the Navigli area in the hope of finding some dancing there when we heard what seemed like cheering coming from Loolapaloosa...after again agreeing to the 10 euro drink charge (daylight robbery) we went in again..this time there were 4 people dancing atop the bar which was on fire! And the place was literally heaving... A couple of very liberally poured vodkas later and we found ourselves dancing till 3am...the music is a great blend of classics and some dance and although its busy, theres just about enough room to strut your stuff..definitely worth a visit next time you are in Milan.close
