Slick, sleek and uber-cool, Milan is one of the most stylish cities in the world. Lavish designer stores abound endless streets while just as lavish bags loaded with the latest 'must-have' items hang from endless shoppers' arms. Milan also has some of Italy's most breathtaking cathedrals, making it a perfect destination for sightseeing as well as shopping. Once all shopping and sightseeing is done, visitors can enjoy free snacks during 'aperitivo time' before ending the day in Navigli, Milan's coolest quarter.

Right near the train station, so it is perfect if you are taking a train or need to get to the airport early in the morning, which I did, so I was out of there at 3 a.m. to catch a shuttle from the train station to the airport. If you aren't leaving the next day ridiculously early, though, stay somewhere else... it is, in the end, a sketchy one-star hotel.close

Not so dangerous, but enough as all the big cities. I could never imagine myself living in those cages that they call houses. It looks like an endless ghetto. The city center was good for entertainment, shopping, fantastic restaurants but all the other Italian cities are 1.000.000 better than Milan. finally i didn't like it but despite this I would like to visit again this city. I don't know about the people from Milan but mostly they are from the countryside. The attitude and the ability to recognize their faults is the greatest. They seem to care and understand.close

Seriously, this is possibly one of the best places to shop in Europe. And i dont just mean high fashion, although there is plenty of it available (i spent at least twenty minutes staring longingly into the Gucci Shop!!)... They have all the well known high street brands, and the shops themselves are big and airy, they have a huge choice of clothes and ample space to try them on. As for the shoes...Italian leather as far as the eye can see.. :) Bring your credit card! The city itself isnt pretty, but for a weekend away with the girls it has everything you need. There are plenty of nice restaurants, but you do need to research them. We found a lovely jazz bar one night and a great nightclub the second.....and given that we were there midweek i was pleasantly surprised at the amount of people that were out each night. If you're not a major history buff i think you will also like Milan, it hasnt go too many famous sights, but there is just enough to fit into a morning or afternoon, so you can tell the folks back home you did some cultural stuff and still had time left to hit the shops before dinner ;) For a weekend away i would definately recommend MIlan, its not too big and there is plenty to keep you occupied..just be careful you dont come home with twice as much luggage as you went out with!close

Top Rated Milan Restaurants

  1. Pizzeria Tradizionale100%

If I could have only one dessert before I die, it would be from this restaurant. Genuinely! The Tiramisu was possibly the nicest thing I have ever eaten! 3. Boeucc80%

Milan's oldest restaurant, opened in 1696, is on the same square as novelist Alessandro Manzoni's house, not far from La Scala. With fluted columns, chandeliers, thick carpets, and a garden, it has come a long way from its basement origins (boeucc, pronounced "birch," is old Milanese for buco, or "hole"). You'll savor such dishes as penne al branzino e...

Top Rated Milan Attractions

  1. Duomo95%

This is a seriously impressive Gothic cathedral right in the centre of Milan and surrounded by uber chic designer clothes shops. Just a short walk from Duomo Cathedral the castle is pretty impressive, complete with moat and drawbridge. The interior courtyards are large and the sound travels easily, meaning I could catch most of what the tour bus beside me were being told by their personal guide and it was interesting stuff. In existence since the 14th Century the castle has been...
