Oh boys... It's fun to stay when there is no better place, but for my next visit I'd prefer not to stay there.

When we booked in we were told room was given to someone else (even though we were given the room number earlier that morning when we dropped our bags off), we were placed in an inferior room at the same cost, with no apology. The cleanliness of room was poor, we shared the bathroom with a wide array of insects and a gecko!close

We stayed in a twelve berth dorm, it was fairly noisey as expected but not too bad. the staff were helpful and polite. the location is a little far from the action but the subway is just rounf the corner. overall a good hostel.

This is now a family hotel and not a youth hostel, boring and disapointing, they are clearly changing their target demographics to families.

I'm sure it was really spectacular when it was first built...lots of history, nice street, great restaurants all around, short walk to a beautiful beach. We were there on February 29th..a Friday night. Not sure what was being celebrated but the street was closed off to traffic, and Latin music was playing as the people dined and partied. This would have been fine BUT our room was DIRECTLY above one of the bars, and the music was played EXTREMELY loud..ALL NIGHT until 5 a.m.!! The bed, lamps, pictures on the wall (Along with our heads!) were vibrating with every drum and bass guitar beat! ALL NIGHT LONG!!! No sleep to be had. We had read the reviews about the hotel being in a quiet location....NOT so on Feb. 29/08 !!The hostel could have warned us about the noise potential. Also, parking is only available 2 blocks away at a shopping centre...cost is $10.00 Also not mentioned in the reviews.close

Great location!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The stuff was very unfriendly, except for maybe two of them. Kitchen is absolutely horrible, the worst kitchen I have ever seen in a hostel, and I have been to many hostels all over the world. It is very dirty and there is no stove, just few microwaves that...

Excellent Hostel, the best i've stayed in since my time in America. Located centraly to Miami hot spots and a few blocks away from the beach. The rooms are big and are cleaned and beds made daily. All round pleasant experience.

I am a member of YHA but did not get a discount. I was wondering how I go about getting a discount in future? Aside from that The Clay hostel was one of the best, friendliest and best located hostels I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. Thank you to the staff and other 'stayers' for...

We stayed in one of the private rooms, and they were just like hotel rooms. The rooms are quite small, but we had a TV, a clean bathroom, a mini-bar and a balcony. I can really recomend this hostel!

If you don't need to sleep then this is the perfect place to stay in South Beach - right in the heart of things. Unfortunately we did need to sleep but as it is located above a nightclub it felt like we were in the nightclub until the music stopped at 4:45am.
